A few years ago there was a discussion on these threads about how to teach keeping steady by listening for the downbeat.

IIRC, the method is for the teacher to keep asking "Where is the ONE?" while listening to rhythm examples.

NOW I find myself taking private students after a hiatus. I am using the "Where is the one" technique as I understand it, but I confess I do not understand it in detail.

Could someone fill me in on the details? What is the teachng method called? Was it developed by a particular teacher? Is it part of a particular method book? Where can I learn more - maybe youtube, or google or we could talk on Skipe if you feel like it? Who is the chief advocate of this method on this board?
