Hi,
I have completed a simple tune in BIAB and tried to export to RB.
But one of the tracks, although plays in Biab, is not carried over to BIAB..
The tracks are:
Bass )
Piano )
Drums )All Realtracks
Guitar)

Strings Custom midi style 50 Slow Strings (NOT PLAYING IN REALBAND)

Solo - Realtrack

Strings not playing in Realband

Any ideas guys?

The first thing I would do is look at the Strings track in the Mixer window and make sure the EXP knob is all the way up.

Hi John,
Do you mean the volume slider? If so, yes it's all the way up (127)

Maybe I should explain it better.

It's not playing because there is NO DATA in the track, rather than low volume.

Hi, Ovation -

Didn't realize there was no data. But to answer your first question: no, not the volume slider. There is a knob on the mixer for MIDI tracks labeled EXP. Sometimes, when bringing MIDI in, this knob stays at zero. You need to turn the knob all the way up to get MIDI volume, otherwise it will be silent. This often even trips up long time users.

For your strings track, how did you import it into RealBand? What I generally do is just save the file in BIAB (as an SGU or MGU, depending upon whether there is any data in the melody and/or soloist tracks), and then just open the BIAB file in RealBand. If you are using VSTi instruments, you will have to reassign those, but all the data should be there.

And are you sure there is no data? Sometimes, strings in BIAB styles only come in on the "B" section. You might need to scroll further along to the right to make sure there are no notes on the track.

Hi John,
Thanks for your reply.
I am not "bringing in" a midi track as such, it is held chords from another style, to which I applied a SampleTank voice (strings). So maybe that's why I can't see the expression knob you talk about.

I did use the option to convert the track to a wave file and played that file back in Windows media player and it plays fine. I suppose I could import that wave file into RB, if that's possible, but it seems a very long winded way of doing things.

This is copy of the summary generated by RB.

****** Song Summary *************
Title: Untitled Song
File:Sleepwalk.MGU
Key=C , Tempo 70, Length (m:s)=4:06
4 bar intro, 64 bar chorus, from bar 5 to bar 68. Repeat x1 chorus
No Melody
Soloist track has 72 notes, Soloist harmony is < no harmony >(0)
Song is saved with Volume, Pan, Reverb, Chorus, Bank0,
Song is saved with bar changes for Volume Changes,
Style is _POPPNOS.STY (PopPiano 12-8 Ballad (65 RS))
PianoCustom Synth is Hi-Q 001 01 Piano, Acoustic, Grand SampleTank.tgs
Style MIDI Instruments are : Acoustic Piano (1),
RealTracks in style: 533:Bass, Electric, 12-8 Crystal Sw 065
MIDI SuperTracks in song: 1886:Piano, Solo-Accompaniment Bluesy12-8John Sw 060
RealTracks in style: ~526:Guitar, Acoustic, Fingerpicking Hank Sw 065
RealDrums in style: Pop128^4-a:Sidestick Brushes , b:SideStick, HiHat
*******************

It's the Soloist track that is not being imported.

Hi John,
Thanks for the screenshot, I now see what you mean.

Unfortunately, that was not the problem as expression was fully turned up anyway.

As a last resort I reset everything back to defaults and re-entered all the song details from scratch and now everything seems to work OK.

I know I haven't managed to establish what the fault was, but at least I've got it working again.

I want to thank you for your time and effort in trying to resolve this issue.

Al
