I have an all Real Track cut that I like a lot. But I had to change the key to be able to sing it. I am using a Resonator guitar and it sounded fine in the original. But in the new key it is playing lower (virtually went from the treble strings (E-B) to the lows (A-E). It really does not sound right.
Can I instruct Tracks to play the instrument track up an octave?

Hi Kevin,

Because RTs are assembled from audio recordings, it's not possible to instruct them to play an octave higher (like a person can do with midi). The only options are to transpose the track in a DAW using an audio converter designed for the job - I suspect that because an octave is such a big jump, though, such transposition would only have a limited use). The other option is to keep on regenerating the particular track until you get something that sits well musically (this is what I do).

Regards,
Noel

In the win version there is a "avoid transpositions in realtracks" in the song settings if you have that in the macintosh you can try it or what Noel said.

You can also make a copy of the real track folder
now don't know what daw's you have but you can try a 12st transpose
of all the m4a files - you will still have a copy of originals if it sound really bad.

This is a very cheap handy tool http://rubberbandaudio.com/ just drag the file in change to pitch to +12 and drag out - it should drag out as a wav or a aiff that band in a box would use.

Thanks - I don't thin there is an "avoid transpositions" on the Mac version. But even if there were, if you are raising or lowering a key by one or two steps it would probably play out-of-key. I think I will bring the RT into Pro Tools and see if I can't bump it with Elastic Audio. It may also be able to be done in GarageBand 2015. I am pretty sure it can be done in Logic Pro X which I am moving to because AVID has not updated the driver for my MBox3. I m thinking the Apogee Ensemble and Logic make great companions.

The avoid transpositions is of the original recordings so when it generates it won't stretch any tracks to give more variety.
