You would think that i should know how but honestly i'm lost with this one.
Working on a composition that had 24 bars and played for 2 choruses all in the Key of G with all real instruments.
Decided to change the composition from 24 to 48 bars and no chorus .
The expansion was very easy to do.
As part of the change in this compostion i want the first 24 bars to play in the Key of G and the next 24 bars should play play in the Key of F.
However can't figure out how that is done.
Highlighting the last 24 bars and then selecting change key the entire song changes key and the same happens when selecting transpose.
Or do i have to do the Key Change bar by bar for the last 24 bars ?
Help please.

In the Windows version of the program I use "Transpose from... to..." to do the job. I enter the starting bar (in this case, "25") and then indicate how many bars to transpose (in this case "24"). I've entered these below. Lastly, set the 'from' and 'to' keys. On the image above, I've set these to C and F respectively. Hopefully BIAB/Mac has a similar process.

Many thanks for your response/input/help. Hopefully BIAB/Mac has a similar process. Unfortunately no.

In which case, I would just type in the new chords where it changes key; and then set a key change at that point (I'm guessing Mac does this - the key change doesn't change chords, it merely changes what gets displayed note-wise so you're not looking at a lot of accidentals). 24 bars should take all of about a minute or two to type in.

Thanks John.
Wish PG tech team can add this to the next version of Mac's BinaBox or ( here is hoping ) somehow patch the current Mac 2016 version.
Although there may have been some tech reason why they could not port that ability from the Window version.

I have been online chat with support and just found out this is NOT supported in the MAC version!!!! I am REALLY disappointed in this very simple operation being overlooked. One of my main reasons for purchase was to create exercises around the circle where I could just put the chords in the first key then "copy down" and have this program put it in the other keys. Evidently this is easy in the windows version but not supported on MAC........... Not a happy customer..

CVE, Welcome to the forums. I have been online chat with support and just found out this is NOT supported in the MAC version!!!! I am REALLY disappointed in this very simple operation being overlooked. Evidently this is easy in the windows version but not supported on MAC........... Not a happy customer.. Just in case you don't know about it.... if you are not happy with the product, PG Music will refund you provided it's within 30 days of purchase. To me, your post highlights just how important it is to ask questions prior to buying. From the sounds of things, if you had asked about transposition and discovered it didn't work as you wanted it to, you wouldn't have bought the product. I'm not sure that it's fair to blame PG Music. They haven't misled anyone. All the best, Noel P.S. I'm not PG Music staff.... just a software user like 99% of the people on the forums.

They haven't misled anyone. That is true albeit sometimes, as CVE wrote we sometimes take it for granted that certain processes we feel are simple and that they are or should be built into the programme. It may be beneficial to PG and purchasers if PG prepared a full disclosure listing of just exactly what the Mac version is missing or can't do as compared to the Windows version.

That's good a idea. Much like the ticks and crosses that PG Music use to show what does/doesn't come with the different packages of the product. That way Mac owners could decide to go for either the Mac version or the Windows version under something like Parallels.

First, back to the OPs question... One way to do this on Mac is a little less elegant than on the Windows version but it is easy to do in just a few extra seconds. (1) First change your number of Choruses = 1 (right on the GUI beneath the MEMO button) (2) Change the bars = 48 (also on the GUI right beside the number of choruses in the "End" window) (3) Select your 24 bars and COPY them. (4) Click on the newly added bar 25 and paste the copied chords. You will now have 48 bars with your original 24 bars copied twice (5) Transpose all 48 bars *down* by 2 semitones (using command: Control-Command-5 pressed twice, or twice using menu Edit > Transpose > DOWN 1) (6) Click again on bar 25 and repaste the same 24 bars which are still saved to your clipboard from before. Now you have what you want but it needs to be transposed up again. (7) Transpose the entire song back up 2 semitones (using command: Control-Command-6 pressed twice, or twice using menu Edit > Transpose > UP 1). Voila. Some of what you want in just a few quick operations. But it may not give you want you want on the notation side of things because the song acts like it is in one key. I'm not sure that the lack of elegance should be a reason to want a refund for the product or to not buy it in the first place, but if the notation aspect of this is an issue then I guess this solution doesn't help much. It may be beneficial to PG and purchasers if PG prepared a full disclosure listing of just exactly what the Mac version is missing or can't do as compared to the Windows version. I agree with this. There are quite a number of things which are available for Windows users only, and it would be really great to have a clear list of which things work and which don't work on a Mac, and also an indication of which things are on the slate to be added to the Mac version in the near future.

When I need to transpose a section of the song, here's how I usually go about it: 1. Select the bars I do not want to transpose with my mouse and hit cmd-c. 2. Then I transpose the whole song (simply because that's the only transpose we got, grr!) to the key I want the transposed section to be. 3. Then I select the same bars as I did in step 1 and hit cmd-v. Bingo! And if I then also need this to look prime & proper in notation, I just go to the bar settings at the key change bar and adjust the key to match.
Just because you can, doesn't mean you should! ---------------------------------------------------------------------- BBox 2022 Audiophile, Mac Pro Intel, OSX 10.6.8, 800x600 (TV VGA)
