Does anyone know where this program is stored and what type of program it is? vsti, or?

Just trying to find a simple synth I can use for a specific click option. I just know where to look for it, or if it's named something else. Reaper doesn't seem to be finding it.

Thanks for any help. smile

Coyote WT and Coyote Forte are both 32-bit only DXi synths (not VSTi's). That means that they won't work with jBridge. If you are running Reaper 64-bit, it won't see either the Coyote WT or the Coyote Forte. You would have to run the 32-bit version of Reaper to access these synths.

Reaper doesn't come standard with a two tone click of some sort? That's quite surprising if true.

You know, Tracktion 7 is full-on free, no nagware, and it has a built in click.

And Bandlab Cakewalk is free. Don't know if it has a built in click.

You shouldn't have to bother programming a click track, in my opinion.

Reaper has a metronome which can be adjusted as far as sound goes. See
https://m.youtube.com/watch?v=GnEFzM4zJsM Or for Kenny https://m.youtube.com/watch?v=vjXNMxeJdUQ

Sonar has similar and can be adjusted in preferences and off memory with a right click on the metronome icon it the transport area.
See https://m.youtube.com/watch?v=4R7R3JyYxcg

If that is what you are looking for. In both cases you can change the sample providing the click.

I don't use Coyote but I do use TTS-1 which is also DXi (not VSTi) in a 64 bit version of Reaper. As long as it is in one of the VST Plug-In paths chosen in Preferences | VST | VST plug-ins settings. Find the directory where the synth is and copy/paste the directory path to here. As it says, you can have multiple paths if you separate them with a ":" semicolon. Example ; C:\Program Files (x86)\Steinberg\VstPlugins;C:\Program Files\Cakewalk\Vstplugins;C:\Program Files\Common Files\VST3;C:Documents\PlugIns64Bit . Those are the actual folders where my VST and DXi plug ins are. This allows Reaper to know where they are so they show up on the "Add FX" list.
TTS-1 comes with the free Cakewalk by Bandlab.

jford, are you sure a 64 bit program won't run a 32 bit DXi? It seams to me that it should.

Yes, I'm sure. DXi information is read from the registry, so the 64-bit DAW won't list 32-bit DXi's as available to the DAW, much like 32-bit DAW's won't list 64-bit DXi's as available. And there is no good bridging utility (there are some utilities to wrap the DXi as a VSTi, but my testing proved it unreliable with latency).

Tony and Rockstar, I noticed I explained that part really poorly. I can find the metronome and reaper most definitely has one.

What I couldn't find was a simple synth to create my own click tracks with. I can play to; but prefer not to play to the old "1,2,3,4"

Being a drummer, I live for groove. In the studio, many times, I like to add percussion elements like shaker and hand percussion to really feel it. It makes it MUCH for fun to play with too.

I did a quick search for a video to show; but didn't find one. I'm surprised its not talked about more. It help not only in feeling the groove (especially on slower songs) but also REALLY helps in NOT overplaying. Because there "seems" to be so much going on already, many drummers don't add to fill in so much.

Sorry for the confusion; but thanks for the help!

John, you are right on! I installed the 32 bit version and there it was! Of course, the other program I'm using is 64 so that didn't show. Arg! lol!

I'll try some of the other solutions today.

Thanks so much for the explanation! That REALLY helped!

Have you tried any of the options under Options/preferences/count-in? You can save them as wavs to use in your DAW.

For this I often use the midi drum parts from PowerTracks, the ones used for Fill Track With Drum Pattern. I think they are also inside the RealBand folder under Drums. And, sometimes the free drum midis from Groove Monkey. I simply drag them into an empty track in Reaper and try a few until I get a basic pattern to record or practice to. I'll initially have that track feeding a track with the TTS-1 on it. Or, put SI Drums on that track. But, SI drums is not full GM midi. Meaning; it does not have each and every drum sample that the TTS-1 has. No bells for example. So, I'll eventually use the SI Drums for a basic kit and make a second track for shakers, bells, etc, running through the TTS-1.
