Ties between 8-notes are way too clumsy and not naturally curved, especially when printed out. Between 4-notes its fine I tried to change the font size but it didn´t help. Any good ideas to customize ties? TIA

Its the same pitch. (Otherwise its called a slur) I can say that Im missing a wider curve. As it is now it looks more like a sharp "v" when printed out on paper. View it here: dropbox link
The picture helps heaps. Thank you for providing that. This is how BIAB works. It's notation ability is adequate but it is still basic. When I want more control over my notation, I use MuseScore. It's freeware and it can read XML files exported by BIAB.
When I have the problem you've highlighted, and I want to stay in BIAB, I adjust the number of bars per line. This usually solves it since the problem occurs as a result of many notes on a single line.
In the case of the music you've shown me, I'd set the "Number of bars per line", (#3) on the image below, to "3" rather than "4". To do this you'll need to activate "Fakesheet mode" (#1 on the image below).
It's also possible to set the number of bars for each line in this dialogue box. Just type each number in separated by commas: for example... 2,3,5,4 says -- 2 bars on line 1, 3 bars on line 2, 5 bars on line 3, 4 bars on line 4.
