1) What speed is the drive that this is shipped with? 5400 or 7200rpm?

2) How large is the drive? 250, 500 GB?

3) I use Reaper. Will the vst3 Biab plug in be found by Reaper in a new drive, or do I need to move it to my vst folder in my C drive?

4) Is the drive an SSD or HDD?

5) What brand is the drive?

I'll be getting this in a few days, and I'm doing my mental workaround prior to arrival to make sure I'm optimizing the setup. Should I plug the drive directly into my laptop or into my powered hub?

Thanks in advance for any help.

If you purchased the audiophile edition, I can answer 1, 2, 4, and 5.

For #3, when you install BIAB, you are asked if you want to install the plugin. When you say Yes, there are many locations to choose from. If in doubt, check the checkboxes. Then, in your DAW, do a Re-scan of your plugins. Some DAWs will do this automatically; I don't know about Reaper.

I am not a fan of USB hubs, even those that are powered, when I have a choice to plug directly into the computer.

PS Maybe a tip: i let the plugin installs where it's defaulted now; too many issues where the older versions went when installing updates ...

One Q remains: How's that a Cow becomes an Expert ?

I used BIAB for many years before mooo-ving on 5 years ago. I understand a fair amount of the software, but I haven't experienced anything post 2010 BIAB, lol.

I can only speak for myself but,
FWIW, what I received is a USB3 drive (blue plug, recognized etc.)
seems to have plenty of space <moore than expected>

Thanks Rharv. 500GB is ample. I'm gonna ask tech support if it is 7200 or 5400 rpm. It matters when working with .wav files

Moo

The 2 TB drive that came with the Audiophile version is 5400RPM. There is no problem running from the USB drive

Note however that the UltraPAK - as I understand it - doesn't include the WAV files.

I'm presuming your drive will be 5400RPM.

Well, welcome to the BIAB zoo (again?).

BTW, I like bananas, but that doesn't prevent me from hitting BIAB's sometimes the same quirky obstacles again and again.
IMO BIAB forces participants to play onkey, being that with a prefix of either M or D.
