It would really be cool if all the RealStyles included a recommendation for one or more RealStylesthat would work well with the current one.

I often want a big lift on the 2nd chorus and it would be so cool if BIAB could recommend one!

OK, I see what you mean. The StylePicker suggests styles in some order of suitability based on the filters, but not necessarily for compatibility with other (adjacent) styles.

I guess it is in eye of beholder...
You would kind of limit yourself to "suggestions". I think it depends how it can be implemented.

I think I have another thought "inline" with this request. So you are in stylepicker and you like a guitar track or any other track, but you want to hear how it sounds within another context. Right click on it->Show all styles containing that RT(or RD)... So in theory, it should populate all styles that are using that track...

On side note, I can not stress enough, how important is to have more available tracks in the mixer. And should by especially useful for something like this. If more mixer tracks happen, you can audition 2 styles side by side within your arrangement, to see if they really play well together or not. Meaning, your first "style" can occupy first 5+/- mixer channels and second style next 5+/- channels. So you can use some or all RT's in that "suggested" style or hybrid. I am not trying to derail this thread, just mentioning this, because "suggested styles" is a good idea and if more mixer tracks will be available, I believe an item like this should be also kept in mind when developing.

For example, one way or another, you find "adjacent" / "similar" styles... To have an option to load RT's for that "similar" style to the next available mixer tracks, leaving intact what is already in place. That way you will have both styles in one mixer. I hope that makes sense.

Rustyspoons, your idea would be great as well! If I could load two styles at once it would be a lot easier to compare them. But I'd still love to have the music experts at PGM suggest style pairings in much the same way that they group RealTracks into RealStyles.

What if you want an ending before it starts the new style rather than a hard change ? if you had an option to put a 4 bar ending before the new style this would come in handy along with more tracks and bar 2 bar re-gen(hopefully they are working on now), you could bring a new instrument/s in while the others are still ending.

That reminds me of Scenes from an Italian Restaurant changes at 1:44 then back at 6:00

While not specifically 'suggesting' style pairings, PGM does extensively pair Styles and create custom styles that are mixtures, edited existing styles, combinations of MIDI/ RT's that users can use or study how PGM staff combines and edits so we can do the same. They're call Multi Styles and use Part Markers to change between styles. Search for PGM Multi Style creations from the StylePicker filtering with + . In my version of BIAB, a search filtered for Multi Styles returned more than 900 styles. BIAB also has hundreds of styles that use the same instruments and style groove and simply change out soloist instruments. It's super easy to make multi styles using these similar styles to change soloists that change out solo instruments with seamless and smooth transitions so it's unlikely BIAB will create a perfect solo except for an abrupt intro or ending that results a forced regeneration and losing the whole solo.

Here is the PG Music tutorial on YouTube:
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=bmcbwJDl1oA

Notice the number of style subset options available in the Part Marker Window at the 2:04 mark in the video. In their example they're only using 4 styles but BIAB can apply as many as 24 styles at once... Each new multi style Part Marker is comprised of a pair of sub-styles... The same as the normal 'A' and 'B' sub styles we're familiar with.

To compare how a style will sound in your song, audition the style from the StylePicker using the "Play using current Chord Sheet for song" selection. If the style or some of the instruments work, apply it by creating a Multi Style and activate/deactivate it with Part Markers. Part Markers can be placed on any measure of the Chord Sheet and used repeatedly.

EDIT: Add a Multi Style Chord Sheet photo and the song created from the Chord Sheet.

Here's a screen shot of the Chord Sheet I created using a style used in a Beginners Forum Post question to how to bring the solo guitar in and out throughout the song.

The Beginner poster received the standard advice and instructions to use Bar Settings (F5) to Mute and Return to Normal that is appropriate to give a beginning BIAB user. But that post presents a good example to more experienced users to try a better method .

Using the Style the beginner poster was using, I saw the guitar solo was performed by BIAB session Musician Mike Durham. Searching the StylePicker filtered to find other performances with different RealTrack Solos by Mike Durham, there were bucket loads of Styles and other RealTracks.

I randomly selected 3 other guitar solo RealTracks by Mike Durham and modified the Hacking Style chosen by the beginner poster and created 3 additional Multi Styles, each with a different Mike Durham Solo performance.

I created a 40 bar Chord Sheet and inserted the different solos using the Multi Riff Part Markers and ended up with 11 different solo instrument changes and a much more advanced performance solo with greater dynamics, energy and variety than what a stock arrangement using Bar Settings to Mute and Return to Normal song would produce.

BIAB can do this now.

Open Song Form\Medley Maker to access the Medley Maker Window

Here's the PGM YouTube Tutorial:
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=lUZ-FOM6IYQ

The PGM video shows this works with Songs.

To use this feature with a single song, save each different section of the song into a song without intro or 2 bar endings except for the first and last section.

eg:
my song - Intro
my song1 - verse
my song2 - chorus
my song3 - ending
Each 'song' can have intro's, endings, solo's, modulations, etc.
Once you're satisfied with the arrangement, save this arrangement as a new and complete song.

I also show 911 multi styles BUT when I choose Real only that list drops to an unimpressive 32! So this won't help me.

And anyway, I'm not looking for deep-dive hacks and work-arounds. I would simply like to see PGM add a feature to suggest compatible styles for the current style I have chosen. This is why they provide RealStyles in the first place since I could create my own groupings of RealTracks. But it is a HUGE timesaver that PGM groups the tracks with the styles! I'd like to see this extended to suggested style pairings.

With more 4 bar endings, in RealBand you set the song length to the first ending,
generate the tracks,
now set the song length to the next ending,
now you can highlight the bars from the last 2 bars or whatever beat of the first ending to the last bar, then generate.
If you had an easy way to do this in Biab would be good, as I said once they get more tracks and bar to bar re-generate this will help.
