...Is there a way to tell BIAB to generate specific measures in a piece...
Edit > Copy Special > Copy/Move Track... In the Audio Edit window set to "Snap" Select bars Click Edit button or right click track in mixer Select Generate Select the same RT or RD
OK So with the help of this community and especially a veteran user pipeline, I've been clued in to a suitable method for doing exactly what I wanted.
Specifically I had a piano part that I didn't like a single measure that BIAB generated and I wanted to instruct it to re generate that single measure.
(the solution would also work for several measures.)
The following is a step by step.
Click Edit and then go down to "copy special" and click "copy/move tracks (on mine system thew window takes a while to open) see diagram 1.
choose the source and destination tracks
Click OK
In my case the Piano track has been copied to Utility 1
Click on the Utility 1 track Click “Audio” then click “audio edit”
This opens the Audio Edit window as in Diagram 2 and displays the audio on Utility 1
Click the checkbox for “snap” and highlight the measure you want to regenerate (in my case measure 3)
right click on Utility 1 track and highlight generate and then click on “select and generate real tracks”
The style window opens
Select the real track that matches the track you're replacing
You just didn't complete the process using the Utility Track RealTrack Picker.
If you click on the 'Show All' button and all of the RealTracks will appear in the list.
Otherwise, you filter searches the same as with the other BIAB Stylepickers. Also, many times you'll be working with RealTracks that are already listed and used on tracks in the SGU song so if you're working with editing one of these tracks on a Utility Track, the RealTrack number is available and you just type it into the search box without having to do a search.
I've started working with this method in earnest this morning and have come to an appreciation of re generating in the audio edit window.
Working with the waveform allows the user to pick the suitable place to begin and end re generating. Regenerating right on the bar marker might not be the best place to jump in and selecting a place sooner near a null point is smooth.
