After creating a melody the program plays from the start of the song instead of playing from 2 bars before the created melody (or solo) like it used to with 2018. Is there a switch somewhere to alter this behaviour?
Are you referring to the Leadin/Countin? BIAB will always have a 2-bar lead in, but you can make it silent which may make it appear the song is starting immediately.
An alternate answer is that no, I am not aware of any change made for this in version 2022. So go to Preferences, Count-in/Metronome and see if you can select something that works.
If that isn’t it, then could you please tell us the steps you took to create the Melody? It wasn’t imported from elsewhere, was it?

ok...this is my method ive used in oodles of biab songs ive done...maybe give it a try in any future song you do. 1. i dont bother with the biab metronome. INSTEAD... 2. the first 4 bars of my song in biab i create my own custom realdrum intro...which i might or not use later in the final song. eg key of C... C.d C.d C.d C.d <<means to bb only play drums.
an advantage of this is easy aligning of traks if i transfer traks to a daw eg realband or reaper or whatever.

I drag over and highlight the bars for the solo or melody. I select a soloist or melodist. I select Custom button (for soloist) then click the Generate button. For Melodist I just click OK.
At this point 2018 would start playback 2 bars before my selected range.
2022 starts playback from the beginning.
I want to set the 2018 behaviour of 2 bars before.
There is a very easy way to overcome this though. When the song starts playing, press the space-bar to stop playback, click the chord cell 2 bars before your melodist/soloist, then press the space-bar to start playing from that point.
Please let us know if that works for you.

BTW I noticed that if I work with RealTracks MultiRiff, after I generate, it does behave like 2018 (starts playing at the bar before the range I generated).
