You have to take the band "out of the box" to do that though

but if you have RB it's not a great jump to get 'out of the box'. and copy and pasting individual tracks is dead easy in the tracks window. i like RB because you can see everything in front of you. each track already has a wav form.
its a shame more people don't try it. it works seamlessly with BIAB. i wonder how many people are grappling with BIAB when what they want to do is easy in RB. i know experts on BIAB can do amazing things within the program but having used BIAB since the floppy disc days when PowerTracks came free moving on to the sister software is an ingrained habit with me.
plus RB is free and comes with the amazing support of forum members.

In light of the specific question asked and the one sentence solution presented by PG staff and a BIAB specific alternate solution, what is the benefit to the DAW/RB solution?
'You have to take the band "out of the box" to do that though' was what gave rise to my post.
i personally find RB easier to use for a lot of things than sticking in BIAB. Charlie you were one of the experts i referred to who can do amazing things in BIAB.
i know i'm not the only one that thinks it's a shame that a lot of people don't use RB. One thing i like is that in tracks view you can see the wave form for every part without opening a new window - and all laid out in linear order following the bar structure of the whole song.
the benefit of the RB solution just might be that the OP might find RB useful and taking a look might be a good idea. and as Audiotrack's suggestion was about thinking outside of the box, i was suggesting that RB is not too far out.
The OP is on a MAC and there is no RB in that environment. So not sure why that keeps coming up. My original recommendation, short as it was and while a bit tounge in cheek, is based on 20+ years working in and out of the box. So just recommending a tool which I know to be good at the job.

On 2/19/22 in the Power Chords thread the OP stated "I have v2022 build 918." which is the PC-Windows version as Mac build is 2021 build 515. Regardless, RB or DAW is not the best recommendation for this task even if it's good at the job. BIAB is great and fast at this job. The best tool for the job to the specific request is PG Staff's brief and thorough solution. AudioTrack offers the same solution using menu's rather than highlighting copy/paste in the Audio Edit Window.
Using the Audio Editor, highlight/copy/paste can be done in less than 10 seconds. That's faster than RB can open. Plus the BIAB SGU file has to be opened in RB before any editing can be done. Added to that, the edited file has to be exported and imported back into BIAB.
Then there's the issue that opening the SGU file in RB will generate new tracks rather than the BIAB tracks the user is working with. The Phrase/Riff desired to be copied and pasted may not appear in the RB generated tracks.
Exporting to WAV, also requires opening RB, importing WAV, editing the track, exporting the edited track and importing the track back into BIAB - and takes much longer to perform than editing the track in BIAB.
... AudioTrack offers the same solution using menu's rather than highlighting copy/paste in the Audio Edit Window.
AudioTrack also mentioned in the same thread: "Best way though is to use the Audio Edit Window."

Yes you did... It appears you and Chantelle were composing your comments at the same time and she entered her comment just prior to you posting yours.
My point was to reinforce yours and Chantelle's suggestion to do the specific edit in BIAB. You acknowledging the Audio Edit as 'best' for the specific task to be done was icing on the cake and displayed two ways to do it.
There can often times be multiple ways to achieve the same outcome. What is important is that each individual understands at least one way to accomplish their goal. And then they can explore more to figure out which works best for their workflow and computer system. There are all great ideas in this thread!
