In 2022 audio chord wizard, where is the average bpm found after analysis?

One place to see the average bpm suggested by the ACW analysis.

With the ACW activated, click on the Equalize Tempo Button and the analyzed audio tempo will be displayed. You can choose whether to have BIAB equalize the tempo or exit out of the screen. You can also vary from the displayed average tempo.

Thank you! I knew I absolutely did NOT want to equalize tempo, so I didn't bring that screen up.

You're welcome. It's no problem to exit out from the screen without making any changes.

One of our team members did a really great overview for the Audio Chord Wizard, and he goes over setting up bar lines and tempo if you're better with visual aids: https://youtu.be/N7vVmsfn9SM?t=95

Hi

"Is this true? Please let me talk to you".
A suitable excerpt from a song ... figure it out smile!

Anyhow from my post way back in 2020-01-06 when I think the new ACW surfaced:

1. Equalize tempos: great feature, however it would be better if an average tempo was suggested instead of grabbing the first tempo.
I think this is Status Quo, no matter how much we're rockin' all over the world.

2. Equalize tempos: next great feature would be the possibility to define the regions within the audio file so that you could have a couple of different tempos within the same song.
Still a good improvement to have.

Cannot influence development any more than this ...

all the best
Thomas

1. I think the reasoning behind having the first few chords suggested as the average is because in a commercial song, the automatic lines can be set and will be close to accurate.

2. You can manually define regions from bar settings and of course, if you don’t equalize the tempo, the ACW tempo map will follow and variations in tempo.

Thanks for your comments

1. It's not an average as I can see, it just grabs the tempo of the first bar even if there is a significant change at the second bar.
Surely a very simple fix to calculate an average as all the data is known and it's just a presented value that is needed.

2. The point of equalizing is to stretch the audio file to a consistent tempo and you if you have two tempos within the audio file the equalization is of no use.
A work-around is obviously to split the audio file, run them one at a time and equalize.
Merge them back in to a single file or keep separated.

1. A significant change at the second bar would be obvious, so if you don’t hear that significant change when the song is played normally, that likely indicates that bar 1 is not properly set. If it’s an obvious change in tempo, then I agree you need more bars to obtain the average.

2. BIAB can track tempo changes in a song.

But, If you prefer to split your song so they each have their own tempo, you can merge them together using the Song Form Medley Maker. Just list each song in the proper order and set the transition to 0 and the Song Form Medley Maker will create a SGU Chord Sheet merging the songs.

Hi Charlie

Thanks for your comments.

1. Regardless if it's significant tempo changes or just subtle ones, the equalization always grabs the first bar as the
suggested tempo.
Looking at the suggested tutorial you can hear him trying to estimate a reasonable average.

Still think it would be a pretty simple software fix, as it's just a calculated value that would have no influence of
any other part of the software, i.e. no risk of fixing one bug and creating two new ones ...

2. For sure BIAB tracks tempo changes.
Again it's all about the equalization function stretching the audio to a consistent tempo and as background to my use of it, is straightening
out good old tape recordings made without any tempo assistance.
Good suggestion about the Medley Maker, will definitely try it.

all the best
Thomas
