I've found the following and am curious about to why this is.
I copied a piano file to a utility track and Dragged and dropped it and then measured its level using audacity,
The level of the utility track is -2.9 when BiaB mixer level for the utility track is set to 90(default)
I then did the same measurement of the utility track by dropping the corresponding .wav file (from file folder) directly into audacity and found that it was the same -2.9
In this case a mixer setting of 90 is unity
I then Dragged and dropped and measured the original piano track and found the following
-10.9 when BiaB mixer level for the piano is set to 90(default)
-4.9 when BiaB mixer level for the piano is set to 127(default)
When the instrument is on its original track, it's possible that the style you loaded had individual volume settings for the track. This is how BIAB maintains "90" as the balanced setting for all tracks in a given style.
In BIAB 2022, it's quick and easy to manually adjust the volumes of tracks so that they match.
1. Open the Audio Edit window. (#1 on the image below)
2. Select the track you want to edit. (#2)
3. Use Select Whole (#3) to select the entire track.
4. Click on Amplify (#4) and enter a value. Positive values will increase the volume and negative values will decrease it.

P.S. If you need to change views so that your BIAB matches mine, CTRL+T will toggle between standard view (my view) and full screen view.
Thanks for the explanation. Where this has been a problem for me is downstream from BiaB on my DAW when compositing between the original instrument track and one that I've pitch corrected in BiaB. The level difference is significant.
I prefer not to normalize but maybe that's the way to go
In Reaper, I normalize my tracks to -6 dB and not 0 db. Also, when I compile a track for other tracks, each section that I add to my comp'd track has it's own volume envelope with I use for fine-tuning volumes.
