The new features in RealBand 2009 are:

• Loop Record
If you record while in Loop mode (which is activated using the loop button) the music will loop when recording is started with the Record button. The music that is recording during each loop can be put onto individual tracks after recording is finished, or the entire take can be put onto a single track like an ordinary recorded take.
A dialog will pop up giving you a choice of whether the recorded audio will go on separate tracks or on the same track. If you choose the latter, the take will be kept the same way an ordinary take is normally kept. If you choose to have the loops put on separate tracks, the program will put each loop on any available track that is greater than or equal to the Current Track. For example if there are 10 audio loops recorded then program will put the takes onto 10 audio tracks. If you don’t want to overwrite existing tracks, then make sure the current track, and any tracks with a higher number than the current track, are blank before recording. For example, if the song already has 10 tracks used, then start recording on track 11 and the loops will be placed on track 11 and beyond. If the program runs out of tracks it will attempt to put remaining loops onto the last track.
- NOTE: Loop recording will always begin at the start of a loop.
- NOTE: Punch-in mode will automatically be deactivated by the program since it is incompatible with loop recording mode.
- Insert Volume Change command in Tracks Win right-click menu. This will insert a MIDI controller into the track at the current location. If a highlighted region exists, then the program will ask if you want to apply this change to the highlighted region (as opposed to a change at the location you clicked) . If appying the change to a region, then program will insert a volume change at the beginning of the region, and a 2nd volume change at the end to restore the prior volume.
If necessary, the program will insert a controller at the very beginning of the song to preserve the original volume if you insert a volume change beyond the start of the track. This will normally be done the first time you insert a volume change into a track beyond the tracks’ beginning.

• MIDI Guitar Cleanup Wizard has been enhanced, with a new setting in MIDI Guitar Cleanup dialog to always delete open string notes

• Chords Window has been enhanced
Kwik Copy. Sections can be easily copied using the “K” “KwikCopy” command. For example, type k12,1 to copy 12 bars starting at bar 1 to the current location.

• Chords can now be entered while the song is playing, allowing you to fix chords on the fly.

• BB Track generation now has Volume changes/Mute at any bar/Fadeout options similar to the Band-in-a-Box F5 Dialog. Pressing F5 in the Chords Window will bring up this dialog. Note: the volume changes/Mute/Fadeout options are for BB MIDI or RealTrack generation only. It does not affect normal tracks.

• Drag/Drop sections in Chords Window. Simply drag a bar # to another bar #, and the chords in the section selected (or to the next part marker if there is no selection), will be copied. Hold down the control key when doing the Drag/Drop, and a Paste dialog will pop up that will let you choose which information gets pasted.

• Easy entry of boxed section Text. Like this… \Guitar Solo
If within Chords Window, and you type the "\" character followed by some text, and you then press enter, the text that you had typed after the "|" character will be inserted as boxed section text in the Current Track (if it is a MIDI track.)

• Mouse scroll wheel support for event list (vertical scroll), and notation (horizontal so time advances)

• Part markers display on Bars Window, with colored box at top and thicker squares in that measure’s column, to help identify sections of the song.

• Markers window - double-click editing of fields implemented, and edit button to to make editing easier.

• File Utilities - Tempo calculator dialog. Tempo, Bars, Time (seconds).
The length of a song depends on tempo and number of bars. With this calculator, you can enter 2 of the 3 variables (length of song in seconds, tempo, number of bars), and the program calculates the third variable for you. So, for example, if you need a piece of music lasting 60.00 seconds, and it is 45 bars, you can use the calculator to find the tempo that will achieve that.

• Wider field for the Track Names within bars window.

• Audio Effects Sub Menu in Tracks Window. Right-click menu item in the Tracks window for now has an "Audio Effects" sub menu that is the same as the Edit-Audio Effects window. Also contains Fade In and Fade Out menu items which launches a FlashMessage w/ instructions, and then launches the GAIN dialog

• Find Lyrics Button on Big Lyrics Window. Beside the options button. Resets the Big Lyrics window track number to the track with the most lyrics. If no lyrics found, a message to that effect.

• Individual track exclusions to Shots/Rests/Held-Chords in Chords Window
- Eg. ‘Cmaj7.bdg’ would cause bass/drums/guitar to be excluded from a rest.

• Clicking on a different BB track will change the track of the LeadSheet

• Patch names displayed on the Notation Window
Option in Notation window to display patch names.

• Artist Names and Bios for RealTracks. The RealTracks have been recorded by top studio musicians. Now the artist names and bios are displayed for the RealTracks.

• RealTracks dialog improved with additional information.
RealTracks Assign dialog has new columns with information for Stereo status, Set number, and artist name.

• RealTracks dialog can now list styles and demo songs that use the RealTracks. The Songs or Styles can be loaded in easily by menu, and played within the dialog.

• RealTracks improved arrangements

• Better soloing and rhythm playing, that are influenced by the key signature as well as the chords.

• Better playing of slash chords in some situtations.

• Option for a “Simpler” arrangement on some RealTracks, which avoid embellishments.

• Feature for fills, turnarounds, postfills and odd/even bars to be at the right place

• Better playing on the “V” chord, since it is usually played as a V7 chord. Options added to allow a RealTrack to treat the V7 chord as a V (useful in rock styles), or to treat all 7th chords as major triads (useful in blues)

• Improved handling of Caug,Cmaug, and C7+ chords
RealTracks, more fluid playing for complex (jazz) chords like C7b9b13

• RealTracks shots improved.

• Improved RealDrums at certain tempos. When RealDrums are tempo-stretching, now favors the speeding up a slower tempo more often, resulting in a better sounding Drums track. (Threshold changed from 10% to 4%).

• RealDrums Made By You (Or Others) that are added by you to the RealDrums folder now appear in the RealDrums Picker dialog.
