I know this is a workaround, but I just open up My Computer, click on the UltraPlusPak drive (whichever drive letter is assigned), and then click on the Band-in-a-Box icon. This always works, and BIAB always references the directories on the hard-drive when it opens. Just run the setup from the HD and answer "Always Run From Hard-Drive," or whatever the equivalent is. That sets up the computer to access files on the HD.

I think the problem w/ trying to create a persistent shortcut on your desktop has to do with Windows re-scanning all attached USB devices at startup, at which time it reassigns drive letters. Even though the BIAB drive receives the same drive letter, to Windows it is a "new" drive.

'Hope this helps.
