Hi Noel - not to get off topic - I have Dimension Pro, and to the best of my knowledge, it does not have a GM bank. So does it, or do make your own? The back to this great thread.
Thanks.

Hi Kelso, Here's how I go about selecting (say) a piano from Dimension Pro ... If you look at the image below, the "blue" Piano indicates that it's a Supertrack. 1. As shown below ... - Click on the VSTi (Synth) button
- Select "Piano"
- Click on the synth dropbox where it says "None"
- Select Dimension Pro from the list of synths
When Dimension Pro loads (it will take a little while) ... - Click the "Empty Program" window
- Select "Piano" from the browser that pops up (you might need to drag this browser up the screen by left-clicking and holding the mouse button down on the top bar where "Program Browser" is written)
- Expand the list of "Pianos"
- Double-click on a choice of piano
I also like to add some reverb in Dimension Pro. (It's down the bottom of the VSTi window.) Now close down the VSTi window, generate the song and you're in business. All the best, Noel

If I understand correctly the RT is deleted and a super track replaces the RT. The Super track opens to allow us to choose what instrument we want(piano) then Dim Pro is linked to the super track piano choice. This is what I gathered from Noel's post. Wyndham

I suspect Rachael was referring to a RT that had a RealChart associated with it. If a RC exists, it is designated by "N" in the column labeled "chart" in the RT picker. From the help file associated with the RT section under Preferences:
"The RealCharts can be saved to MIDI files or with Band-in-a-Box songs (MGU).
RealCharts are optional and are selected in the RealTracks Settings dialog. Ctrl+click on the RealTracks button or click on [RealTracks] in the Preferences dialog.
þ "Show RealCharts notation from styles and songs" will show RealCharts that have been generated from styles or songs stored with RealTracks.
þ "Show RealCharts notation for Soloists" will show RealCharts that have been generated from the Select Soloist dialog.
þ "Save RealCharts in MIDI files" will save the RealChart to a MIDI track so you can analyze it in other programs.
þ "Save RealCharts in BB Songs (MGU)" will save the RealChart MIDI information to the MGU file."
IOW, with that third option enabled, we can save the data to a MIDI track. I've never done this, so am not sure how it is actually executed. I suspect simple drag 'N drop to a sequencer would be one way.
HTH -Ron
EDIT - Hmmm Drag N Drop doesn't seem to work for me. Using RB, the audio drags but not the midi. This seems to work: mute all tracks except the one with the RC. Under File, choose make a standard midi file and direct it to the clipboard. The data can then be pasted into a sequencer's midi track. Presumably, you could make a midi file this way from as many RC tracks as there are in the song. There may be more efficient ways, dunno.

That's pretty much how it works. It's either a Realtrack or a Supertrack in one of the BIAB slots. It's not possible to have both simultaneously in the same position.
I've used BIAB's Piano track as an example in the above but it could be any of the seven tracks (Bass through to Soloist). Also, a person doesn't need to have Dimension Pro, that's just the soft synth I showed above to answer a question from kelso.
Window's in-built synth will also play MIDI data, it's just that Dimension Pro, VSC/DXi, Coyote Forte, etc., all sound a whole heap better.
Regards, Noel

Thanks for all you do, Noel!
Thanks Mac. When I look at your nearly 34,000 posts, though, I realize that my contribution to these forums is just a drop in the ocean compared to your effort!!
All the best, Noel
P.S. I don't that anyone who knows me has ever thought of me as a "gem". That's the beauty of the internet, I can fool people. In real life, I suspect I'm more likely to be described as a stone or pebble
To quote an old Song: Ï'm just an old chunk of coal, But I'm gonna be a diamond someday"
Noel, you're already a diamond!! https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=VGnOCEdt6XI

<<Because it's a MIDI recording, the quality of the sound is completely determined by the quality of the software or hardware that's used to interpret the MIDI information. >>
This was something that took me a long time to understand, being new to midi and recording. I'm in the camp that likes the versatility of midi. When I first heard the Ketron SD2 (Thanks Mac) and later, Garritan Personal Orchestra), I was blown away by the sound quality. The synth quality is a major factor. IMO
