Hi Frank,
Congratulations! This is wonderful.
As I was sitting here with my eyes closed, some of the thoughts that popped into my head were: "love the harmonica", "this music creates an excellent ambience", "love the rhythmical feel the mandolin brings in". I agree that four and half minutes is long but I wasn't bored at all. To be honest, I wouldn't change anything. You've got it working together so well as it is.
All the best, Noel

Noel,
You are generous with your compliments. Yes on the harmonica. It is a great RT as are the others.
Such a joy to use PG music tools with our music.

Nice tune Seeker, I agree, I wouldn't change anything. The name is also appropriate. Think of it with a light river sound in the background on a countryside documentary. Later

Pete, FWIW, I was born in Florida, but ended up in Wisconsin Till 17, then military. Then life. Grew up in the backwater sloughs of the Mississippi. The River/s can take on a character of their own depending upon seasons and weather. Thanks for compliments, including the title. My father was pretty darn good on the mouth harp, and also Harmonica. He played it while playing piano or organ. 20 years gone now, Mississippi river part of life gone now, hence the title.

I'd stick with the length of it unless you have some objective for it that requires it to be shorter. I've got to get that mando realtrak -- I've got several of them but not that one and it is great with that tempo. Good use of the harmonica. I've tried several harmonica tracks in our efforts and have yet to have one sound like this. Really nice and as others have alluded to it has a river feel to it. Janice and I flat water kayak a lot on our local lazy river and I'm sure your song will be in my head on the next outing!
The only thing I noticed that you might want to look at is that the outro is very slightly truncated at the very end of the fade. I listened twice and it was still there. Could be the player though.

I wanted to keep the Harmonica icing of the cake. did a fade-out, but short. Good point tho.
Early December is usually the upgrades, bit over 2 months.
Only problem with harmonica, is its is so unique, it could easily be overused. Grew up like Huck Finn on North Mississippi..had old wood boat, crawfish for bait, not eating, mudcats for bait, did a bit of trot lining, but only caught carp. Good for smoking, but hard to light..LOL.
Thanks for your compliments. Did re-listen to the ending, but will keep it.

I was listening to it in my shop - iPod wifi feeding small sound system. Just listened with my studio monitors and realize now that the cutoff at last second has a neat effect. Sorta a welcome back to reality from the mood. Nice
Our albums and singles are on Spotify, Apple Music, Amazon Music, YouTube Music, Pandora and more. If interested search on Janice Merritt. Thanks! Our Videos

Sounds great to me.
I wouldn’t change a thing!
My boss calls me "the computer". Nothing to do with intelligence. I go to sleep if left unattended for 15 minutes.
64 bit Win 10 Pro, the latest BiaB/RB, Roland Octa-Capture audio interface, a ton of software/hardware

It captures the mood of a melancholy river, no doubt. Nicely played. Nice use of BIAB. Good background music or even music for a movie. I like it.

Great feeling on this instrumental, also great clarity on all the instruments in the mix. Is it all RealTracks? Even the solo harmonica? Pretty amazing.
Thanks for sharing, Bruce

jpt,
Thanx for nice compliments, Not to disappoint but harmonica is Realtracks. As for BIAB and RB, it sometimes takes quite awhile to nail down an arrangement, but, its such a joy to have the PG tools to work with.
Bruce,
The instruments are simple, so mix is bit easier to do. Yes all of the music is realtracks, even the Harmonica. Some number of RT's even tho not titled "Solo's" do a very nice job.
Also a big plus was listening to some of the other folks music with simpler arrangements. I have Audio Technica ATH-M40 f/s studio phones recommended by nother member on the forum. They help me a great deal when using RB.
and Thank you for compliments.
