Hi everyone,
Well, I finally bought BIAB 2013, after wishing and hoping for so long. It was a tough choice between the Everything PAK and the Audiophile Edition, especially considering the huge $$$$$ saving on the Everything PAK. I weighed up all the great input from the members here (thanks also to Sandra Sherman and Mac for your input), and considering I will only be updating around once every year or so, as well as hoping to help a friend record some kind of professional quality CD sometime down the track, I decided to buy the Audiophile Edition. This was a 'buy it once and leave it alone for while' kind of purchase for me, especially considering money is pretty tight at the moment.
Now I wait for it to arrive, and I'm sure I'll have a lot of fun playing with it and trying to fathom it out over the Holiday Season, just like the arrival of a new baby. It will be more like 'BABY'-In-A-Box for me!.... LOL.
Now all I have to do is get a good Audio Interface and a couple of decent mics to suit the AI and I'll be on my way. I'll post my other questions about Interfaces and mics over on the "Off-Topic" forum, and hope someone can guide me in my choices from there.
Thanks all again, Dome

congratulations on taking the plunge, Dome! If BIAB is as much fun for you as it is for the rest of us, you'll be a happy camper!
Looking forward to hearing your first user showcase post!

Hi Pat, Thanks for the great encouragement. Yeah, I'm a happy camper already, even though I don't yet have a tent. Hee-hee! ... until my BIAB arrives. I've read a few posts here where people have said they were very hesitant about getting BIAB and procrastinated for so long before taking the plunge, but once they got it, and discovered the fun and creative aspects of it,they were kicking themselves for not getting it sooner.
Not sure about my first recording happening anytime soon though. It takes me a LONG time to actually get my head around software based 'Toys", but I'll do my best to post one of my compositions sometime in early 2013. Still gotta get a good mic and an Audio Interface to make it all happen.
Cheers, Dome

Welcome Aboard, Dome!!
I'm sure you won't regret your decision one iota!
I don't have the "Audiophile" version, but was eyeballing it for some time now. I opted for the "Ultra Plus Pak" instead. I do recording with BIAB as well, in my home studio. I'm finding more and more creative ways to implicate BIAB into the recording process. It's pretty awesome. I can be inspired from listening to a tune created by the "Melodist" while suffering from writers block on one end of the spectrum, to finding just the right guitar track to import into an existing song I've written but couldn't find that one missing link that would pull it all together, on the other! It's a great tool for recording, learning, practicing, etc!
Have fun and if you need any help with suggestions for setting up your home studio, I'd be glad to let you know what route I took.

It's not what you're "Playing", It's what you're "Saying"!

Hey Zero and Harpo,
Thanks for the warm welcome. Harpo, Thanks for the kind offer. I'm sure I will want to ask many questions while I'm getting BIAB set up, and my very modest home studio put together, but I don't want to make a nuisance of myself by asking too many questions, but then again, I don't want to bust a major valve by keeping quiet and not asking for help. So, be prepared!
Peace! Dome

Hi there, said it before but this is ONE purchase where you will not suffer from buyers remorse!
While you are waiting spend some last time with the family before moving into your new home studio. They still have to lure me out with ( promises of) chocolates and requests to come and barbecue for them .....
I'm doing allright for Country Trash ....
I used to care, but things have changed (Bob Dylan)

Thanks for the tip Country Trash. Today, I'm spending my last memorable day with the family. I've stocked up on food rations and ammo, and disconnected all lines of communication to the studio so I won't have my artistic genius disturbed, and the kids will soon be helping me erect the electric fence around the perimeter! Guess they will have all graduated by the time I eventually surface. The last thing on my list that I need to get before I go into total reclusion is a good used guard dog? ![](/forums/images/graemlins/smile.gif) Dome
