I, for one, am not going to look at this gift horse in the mouth. I think the lectures have been very eye opening; and I'm starting to analyze some of the songs I hear that have that extra 'sparkle' from a lyric standpoint, and finding that many of them use Pat's bag of tricks of odd numbers of lines in the pre-chorus, unstable 4th line of a verse, etc.

For this one concept alone, the class has been worth it to me. I really don't care about the peer reviewed scores I get to be honest. Their comments have been useful (some of them at least).

When I look back at all the classes that I paid for in college and what I paid, the fact that this is free even just to audit it, is pretty incredible. The methodology used in the video alone is helpful, with Pat to the right of the screen and the relevant text on the left and bottom of the screen - great.

There are at least 3 camera angles used in the videos - a whole bunch of online 'courses' use just one. This means there exists 3 times the raw content to edit down than a single camera shot video.

I haven't started the week 3 assignment yet - maybe I'll change my tune, but I have to say that the class has been great so far in my opinion. After all, this is songwriting - there are no 'right answers' anyways. It's not like it's F=ma .

(that last bit was for Kemmrich).
