I imagine that a large part of the problem is that what you are asking BIAB to do is not what BIAB was designed to do. That being said, it's amazing what creative thinking can accomplish with this program (as you've already pointed out using modified styles).
I'm assuming that you're using Realtracks for your guitars. If that's the case, it might be worth investigating some styles with MIDI guitar. The notes of MIDI tracks can be changed using "Notation Mode" or "Piano Roll Mode" and adapted. Then, using the "Freeze" function, these changes can be permanently saved in a file for later use. Please note that "Freeze" is only available on later versions of BIAB.
Also, if you right-click on the Chord Sheet and then select "Song Settings", there's an option in that sub-menu to "Force song to simple arrangement". This might help. Again, it's an option that was introduced on later versions of BIAB.
