Entering as title, comes up Am7, etc. Is that correct?
Also lost this C#o7, has slash in the small o.
Thank you!

. Not sure what your question is, but a minus sign is sometimes used in place of letter "m". Saves getting confused regarding M-for-major and m-for minor.

flatfoot, how can I ask a question if don't know what I'm doing....LOL
In FB's there are a lot of different methods used thru the years. The - comes up m so can live with that. Same notator used Ma for Maj or for biab Gj for GMaj7
Thank you.

Yes, the "minus" is shorthand for minor.
The o with the slash through it is shorthand for the Half Diminished chord, also known as the m7b5.

You will see some of these notation symbol changes in BIAB when you select the Jazz Fonts. I'm not in front of a BIAB computer but the place to select fonts is something like Options, Preferences, Display.
BIAB 2024 Win Audiophile. Software: Studio One 6.5 Pro, Swam horns, Acoustica-7, Notion 6; Win 11 Home. Hardware: Intel i9, 32 Gb; Roland Integra-7, Presonus Studio 192, Presonus Faderport 8, Royer 121, Adam Sub8 & Neumann 120 monitors

Mac,
Great, if following you.... C#o7 = C#m7b5 mouthful there.
Matt,
Missed the post... but point well taken. Brings up another question. If Jazz fonts are selected, does that detract from "standard" notation fonts ?
Wife is waiting supper, gotta go.
Thanks

Mac,
Great, if following you.... C#o7 = C#m7b5 mouthful there. Not quite. The small circle by itself is "diminished" whereas the small circle with a slash through it is "half-diminished". m7b5 is half-diminished.

Every time a new door is opened there are many more... Technically I can learn this, but music wise, will be awhile.
Thank you all! This is now in my BIAB bookmark folder.

Thank you all! This is now in my BIAB bookmark folder. I feel your pain. As a blues dog for 40 years, I got into jazz 'cause my wife of 15 years is a FABULOUS jazz singer. I LOVE playing rhythm more than anything so I'm cool with comping jazz tunes but reading charts was driving me NUTS (not a very long drive in the opinion of many) because SO many chords are spelled differently incl. the half dim/m7b5. But it's worse for us guitarists because GIVEN FINGERINGS can be called SO many different chord names it made me dizzy. So, I said heck with it and got the EXCELLENT software package MuseEdit (free in a dumbed down but still highly functional version). So, I type in whatever chord name the chart calls for and it gives me fretboard diagrams showing a dozen or more different ways to play the chord. It still isn't perfect because, for example, there is no way to input an "O" with a line through it (it accepts "dim" but not "half dim") but I learned right here on this forum that such a chord is also a m7b5 and there aren't TOO many examples of chord names that it won't accept. And in desperation, I just look at the diagrams in BIAB and can create that same fingering...call it whatever I want and save it to the MuseEdit chord dictinary. Very cool. But when REAL musicians...at least those who have studied theory AND have a memory (I don't have one that I can remember) see my charts they can't STOP LAUGHING. But I can PLAY what is written so at the end of the day, I get the job done while giving others a good laugh. For everything else, there's Master Card!! Best, Jim
