If you are using a MIDI bass, you will just have to keep trying different styles. Also, regenerate the song until you get a part you like, then freeze the track. Hint: the A part markers (blue) normally play simpler parts than the B part markers (green).
If you are using a RealTrack bass part, look for the checkbox near the bottom of the selection dialog box that says "make a simpler track" or something like that. I'm not at a computer so I can't give you the exact language. The same tips above also apply.
