good day gents. I'm putting together tracks for a cover song and planning to open it in real band. I guess I don't really have to if I can do it all in Band in a Box so here's my question: its a Tom Waits song, Tom Traubert's blues, and at the end of every verse it slows down then resumes at the regular tempo at the beginning of every chorus. I have tried the tempo map in real band but it's a little hinky and not all the tracks slow down and those to do not in time with the others. So if I can do this in Band in a Box then I can bypass real band altogether. Thank you for your time. WSS

don't confuse us with the same basic post in different forums....
You can find my music at: www.herbhartley.comAdd nothing that adds nothing to the music. You can make excuses or you can make progress but not both. The magic you are looking for is in the work you are avoiding.

There shouldn't be anything confusing about it hack. if it can't be done in real band maybe it can be done in band in the box so I would do it there. And not go to real band at all. Plus there might be more traffic on this forum. WSS

The Power of the F5 key!! At the first chord in the bar where you want to tempo to change, hit F5 and do your thing in there, either by % or by bpm. Remember to rest the tempo back to the original at the bar where the Chorus starts by F5'ing that bar. If you wanted (say) the last 4 bars to slow down, each one slower than the previous one, you would have to make the changes bar by bar as AFAIK there is no ritardando feature in B. I have done it a few times after Mac led me through it once upon a time and it works but is laborious. Always reset the fist bar of Chorus back where you want it though.
HTH Ian

don't confuse us with the same basic post in different forums.... Don't worry about Guiarthacker, he Has "Expert" after his name so they might get a bit confused once they get old rather than going out of his way to help you. It is a good idea to post here if you get no responses from the RB forum as the BB forum is more popular and not that many go to the RB forum.

Sixchannel is correct as far as I know. The tempo changes in BIAB are measure-by-measure.

Ah not a problem, as a matter of fact it was hacke himself suggested I could maybe do it in Band in a Box. I've never actually used real band for a project I just tried it with this one thinking it might be the best place to do a retardando. Thanks fellows. WSS

changed the tempo at the bar changed it back at the next bar and everything works like a charm. I opened it up then in real band and saved it and real band. No idea if there's any advantage to that or not, but I doubt it. Thank You men. Ed as far as sonar I don't think it should make any difference. I just dropped in as audio tracks. I won't be doing any MIDI to this unless its real time so want quanting wouldn't be a factor and I probably won't need the metronome.
Unfortunately this one has one of those noisy piano RealTracs as discussed in another thread. I wonder if I could use a MIDI piano track? If it didn't sync 2 the metronome... But I could probably save it as a wav.
thanks everybody! WSS

PS the noise which I thought was in the piano track turns out to be the new age drum pad!
And Mac, to quote the old joke I'm not making fun of you I'm making fun of them! WSS
