Maybe somebody can help by telling me how to let a cymbal ring with the final chord. By entering the three periods "..." i get all the other instruments to sound for the whole measure except for the drums. The have an abrupt ending. Thanks!

Can you open the Bar settings for the Bar where you put the Hold X... and change to another RealDrum or Substyle in the current Drums ?

Yes. And then, what do I have to change? In the Chord settings Hold is set for all instruments.

Click on the "R.Drums" button in the Bar setting window and select the RealDrums or Variation on the bottom right of the RealDrums Picker window you want to change to.

I did what you said, auditioned a Real Tracks Variation, the final chord sounds like I want it, but when I listen to it in my tune it's still a very short cymbal hit. Do I have to change my Gmaj7... to something else?

So do you make it up first in BIAB then put it in your DAW or do you just use it straight from BIAB ? If you export the tracks to your DAW you can just edit it in that, open the RealDrum m4a/aiff file from the Drums folder and you will find some hits (shots n holds) at the end of the file then you can copy and paste. Try and put a blue or green part marker on that bar.

I try to do everything in BiaB. I listened to the mp4 as you mentioned and found what I was looking for. But when I choose this R.drum style for the last bar (even with style a or b) all I get is a snare or kick drum hit on 1. No cymbal. Weird!
I just noticed that I had a "2 bar ending" checked, but even with that unchecked no change.

Did you try re-generating so it chooses another hold ? Unless someone comes on with an easy way. If you want to force it to play a particular Shot/Hold:In the Drum's folder it will have a txt file for each style, down the bottom of it there will be a list of Shots/Holds (all called Shot) with the Bar numbers and other variables" If the type of Shot is not detailed as below in the txt file you would have to load the m4a into GarageBand or another DAW to see what number bar the Shot/Hold is at, the m4a has a 2 bar count-in -1 to 0. Shot{ Kick (applicable for Brushes & Sticks) },1,648,474,498,1,90 ;Shot{ Kick (applicable for Brushes & Sticks) },0,648,474,498,1,90 Shot{ Snare with Sticks },1,650,13,598,1,90 ;Shot{ Snare with Sticks },0,650,13,598,1,90 Shot{ HiHat with Sticks },1,651,131,298,1,90 ;Shot{ HiHat with Sticks },0,651,131,298,1,90 ;Shot{ Crash 1 with Sticks },1,651,431,1396,1,90 Shot{ Crash 1 with Sticks },0,651,431,1396,1,90 ;Shot{ Crash 2 with Sticks },1,654,388,1895,1,90 Shot{ Crash 2 with Sticks },0,654,388,1895,1,90 Shot{ Crash 2 with Sticks, choked },1,658,363,498,1,90 ;Shot{ Crash 2 with Sticks, choked },0,658,363,498,1,90 ;Shot{ Crash 3 with Sticks },1,659,382,2094,1,90 Shot{ Crash 3 with Sticks },0,659,382,2094,1,90 ;Shot{ Crash 4 with Sticks },1,664,77,1396,1,90 Shot{ Crash 4 with Sticks },0,664,77,1396,1,90 Shot{ Tom 1 with Sticks },1,667,34,598,1,90 ;Shot{ Tom 1 with Sticks },0,667,34,598,1,90 Shot{ Tom 2 with Sticks },1,668,153,897,1,90 ;Shot{ Tom 2 with Sticks },0,668,153,897,1,90 Shot{ Floor Tom 1 with Sticks },1,670,91,797,1,90 Shot{ Floor Tom 1 with Sticks },0,670,91,797,1,90 Shot{ Floor Tom 2 with Sticks },1,671,409,598,1,90 Shot{ Floor Tom 2 with Sticks },0,671,409,598,1,90 Shot{ Cross Stick 1 },1,673,48,199,1,90 ;Shot{ Cross Stick 1 },0,673,48,199,1,90 Shot{ Cross Stick 2 },1,673,247,199,1,90 ;Shot{ Cross Stick 2 },0,673,247,199,1,90 The six elements that come after the text "shot" are explained below in further detail. Look at element 5.Weight this number should be between 1 and 8 you can change the Shot's Weight to 8 then save it, it should eliminate any between 1-7 from being played at all: from here How to make RealDrums Styles Shots Definition
In Band-in-a-Box, shots and holds are entered by putting either 2 or 3 periods after a chord (2 periods for a shot, 3 for a hold). With RealDrums, when a shot or hold is entered, the drums stop for the duration of the chord, and a single drum hit is played in place of the drum beat. Pushes are entered by typing either 1 or 2 caret symbols ("^") before the chord in question (1 caret for an 8th-note push, and 2 carets for a 16th-note push). With RealDrums, when a push is entered, the regular drum beat continues throughout, but a single drum hit is added to the mix to emphasize the push.
RealDrums Style Example 9
The single drum hits are generally recorded at the end of the wave file, after the main drum groove, but they do not have to be.
Like patterns, shots are also defined in the text file using lines of text containing several elements: 1) the text "shot", 2) type of shot (0 for shot or hold, 1 for pushes), 3) the bar number of the shot in the style wave file, 4) the number of ticks (1 beat = 120 ticks) before or after the bar number the shot occurs, 5) the duration of the shot in ticks, 6) weight, 7) volume of the shot
Here are some examples of defined shots:
Shot,1,82,-2,455,1,100 Shot,0,83,5,360,1,90 Shot,1,171,240,200,1,80
The six elements that come after the text "shot" are explained here in further detail:
1. Type of shot The type of shot needs to be either 0 or 1. If 0 is entered, the shot will be used when chords are entered with two periods (shot) or three periods (hold). If 1 is entered, the shot will be used when chords are entered with two or three carets before them (8th & 16th note pushes).
2. Bar number in style wave file Like with patterns, you need to remember that RealDrums styles use -1 based numbering, so you need to subtract 2 from the bar number as you see it in your audio editor. More than one shot can be played in a single bar, and you would use the tick adjust amount to distinguish between the two.
3. Tick Adjust The shots do not necessarily have to occur at the bar lines, and the tick adjust can be used to tell Band-in-a-Box exactly where the shot starts. Simply measure the number of ticks from the downbeat of the bar number entered to the start of the shot, and that is the number that should be entered here. If the shot starts before the bar number that was entered, a negative number should be entered here.
For example, if a shot is recorded at bar 82, but on closer examination it appears that
Shot,1,82,-2,455,1,100
In another example (see example 10 below), a shot is played at the third beat of bar 171. In this case you need to use the tick adjust to indicate that it a full two beats after bar 171. Since one beat is 120 ticks, two beats would be 240 ticks, and it would therefore be entered as such:
Shot,1,171,240,200,1,80
RealDrums Style Example 10
Example 10: Here the shot begins at bar 171 (173-2), at the third beat, or 240 ticks into the bar.
4. Duration Unlike patterns, which use numbers of bars for durations, the shots use ticks for durations. So, for example, if a shot lasts for three beats, you would enter 360 (3 beats * 120 ticks per beat).
Here is an example of a shot that lasts for three beats:
Shot,0,83,5,360,1,90
For the best effect, the sound of the shots should decay naturally, and the entire length of the shot including the decay should be entered in the text file. This is especially important when all other instruments are silent, and all you hear is the decaying sound of the drum hit.
5. Weight The weight for shots works exactly the same as the weight for patterns, except that there is no need for the use of 0 or 9 weights. This number should be between 1 and 8, with higher numbers representing a greater chance that the shot will be selected each time.
6. Volume The volume of the shots is represented by a number between 1 and 127. If 90 is entered, the volume will not be adjusted at all. If a number between 1 and 89 is entered, the volume will be lowered accordingly, and if a number between 91 and 127 is entered, the volume will be raised accordingly. It is generally easiest to test the volume amounts once the style has been completed.
If that works you can freeze it then re-edit it back to original in the txt unless you always want that for a Hold.

I'd say the addition of any sort of "trills" or "rolls" of the drums during holds is certainly worthy of its own Wishlist thread. It would easily get my +1

Either this is really complicated or I am too stupid to handle that. Basically I understand what you are trying to tell me, but no matter what I try to change in the last bar I don't get any sound change at all. I tried to choose a sound with many different shots/holds, regenerated, tried different styles, always the same. And this happens on all my songs. BTW I use BiaB 2014 for Mac.
