As far as I can tell from reading the code, BIAB does not send patch change info in the exported Music XML code. Please see this thread where a user asked about it. According to his info, Music XML does support this, called MIDI Program. Could this be added to BIAB?
We don't have xml on our end yet, but +1, for future refs if nothing else.

Exactly. I also cited the available BIAB options in that other thread, but you are stating it more clearly than I did: what we are requesting is to add "MIDI Program" support to the Music XML export from BIAB.

This is a good idea, but I think the patch (and as indicated in the referenced thread, the MIDI device and port assignment) should be selected by checkbox (as the other items such as notes, chords, etc are done).
This is so that you can share files with others who may not be set up the same as you (so device and port assignments could cause confusion and errors). Also, if you are using something other than General MIDI patch assignments, that could make for interesting results for someone using just a general MIDI synth.
That way, if you are doing all the work on your own computer, that information would be necessary and would work correctly; however, if you are sharing your files, you could export to XML without any of that information and let the other user decide what to do based on their system's configuration.

Yes, I completely agree with this clarification by John.
As I mentioned in the referenced thread, sometimes MIDI patches that are not General MIDI will not play at all, or give you some weird unexpected sound. I generally convert to GM when I send someone a MIDI. But Music XML export from BIAB doesn't support sending any patch info, yet, apparently - hence this Wishlist post.
