In case anyone besides myself gets hung up on this issue I just want to let it be known that there are 2 settings to check in order to get Shots, Holds and Pushes to behave with RealTracks.
A: Preferences | RealTracks | RealTracks Settings dialog ' [_] Allow RealTracks Shots, Holds and Pushes
B: Song Settings (above the tempo box) | [_] Allow RealTracks Shots, Holds and Pushes.
I could not get my chords to hold (sustain) until I had found and checked both of these.
Perhaps this should be added to the [Tip Of The Day] pop-up.

My understanding is that both of these options are turned on (boxes checked) via factory settings and are only turned off if the user so chooses to do to. I guess if you inadvertently turn them off, it is easy to get them back on. I however would not reset them back on via factory settings as that option will change quite a few more things then shots and holds.

Thanks for sharing the information. Adding to the tip of the day is a good idea however some users may have tip of the day turned off.
I hope you will make the effort to also post this information in the Tips and Tricks section of the forum. If you do you may also want to identify the year and build number of your version of BiaB in case these preferences change in the future.

It's good you pointed those settings out. It's easy to lose track of them.
I haven't checked this but I seem to recall reading somewhere that the reason there are two settings is that the one in Preferences is the master control. The one under Song Settings is able to disengage the setting on a song-by-song basis and will only work if the Preferences setting is active.

jcland, Weird thing is I never turned either off. But with each new session the song settings one is always off. Last few times I spend some frustration figuring out the problem. Even wondering if I had a defective song style. Posting it here help embed my memory of the solution and also allows me to search the forum for a solution if I ever forget.
Does the noise in your head bother me ?

Tobias, I wouldn't have thought to look for a second location of this, either. Definitely, Tips and Tricks.
As to why your settings got flipped, sunspots?
One moral of this story is the Save your Settings when everything is working correctly.

I wonder if anyone else is experiencing the song setting becoming unchecked. I haven't but I seldom use pushes or holds. Hopefully others will chime in.

I guess I should have Tip of the Day turned ON. In the 1 and a half years I have used BIAB and RB I've never seen a Tip????? I need them. Will I need to ask a general question in BIAB Windows forum RB forum or both?
