so i pretty much have the chords together. i pretty much want it to repeat twice and than for the third time it plays to i want it to play right after the tenth bar. I know theres a way to do but i dont know how. heres an example
first two times |: A7 | D7 | A7 | A7 | | D7 | D7 | A7 | A7 | | E7 | D7 | A7 | E7 :|
Personally, I don't use repeats in BIAB. I prefer to lay my song out as once-through event. With copy and paste, this is very easy. It also gives me the maximum amount of control over how my material is played in relation to part markers and bar settings. If you play my song below on Vimeo, you'll see what I mean.
To do this, the above chords, all you would need to do is to copy the fist 12 chords and paste them into the next 12 bars. Then paste the first 11 chords into the last 11 bars. This will give something like below.
(To copy, just drag you mouse across the bars with the left-click selected. This will select the cells. Then use CTRL+C to copy. Place the cursor on the first bar where you'd like the chords copied to and then press CTRL+V to paste.)
hey thanks for replying, that was my original plan but i like it when the band picks up for the second and third time, could you perhaps go into detail on how to do that. i also would like to know how to use the bar line options
What you describe as the "band picking up" is, I suspect, due to part markers. These are the blue and green boxes around the bar numbers.
To get these, click on the bar number. First it will turn blue -- this is the simpler backing. With a second click it will turn green -- this a the more energetic backing. A third click will return it to it's 'off' status. (The song will need regenerating every time the part markers change so that the new status is created in the arrangement.)
The below link is to a songfile that I created using your chord progression. You can download this and have a look at what I've done.
You'all will probably be ready to strangle me when I have finished this post, but I have to say, if I were to take this BB journey all over, it would start with the understanding that intros and closings are among the most important elements. For one thing, music is an up and down process, ebbing and flowing. That's not an original thought. While I happen to record the original into a digital recorder armed with a BB backing track, I've found there is no way to get around the awesome power of the DAW. My advice to anyone starting would be to seriously consider creating intros and closings as separate files, then paste them into tracks on the DAW. Take it from these two characters, who, along with Elton John, are known for their intros and closings. Fast forward to hear the ends. Eric Clapton "you look wonderful" https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=vUSzL2leaFM Mark Knopfler Sultans of Swing (Not too many drummers can crack the whole band up at once.) https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=8Pa9x9fZBtY While the standard pop and blues closings -- the final four bars -- are functional, nothing wrong with that -- and I know, this is Clapton, but, what the heck, gotta start somewhere.
