Vocal Rider is a good volume automation plugin. I got it on sale for 29 bucks long time ago. If I paid the yearly update fee it would cost a lot more in the long run for the few waves plugins I actually use regularly. Some I paid too much for so I always wait for their best sales after being burned a few times on ones that I thought did not live up to the hype. Waves makes it harder and more confusing than it has to be to register/download/activate products compared to other brands.

And for those who never have an issue - in the words of Brisco Darling -more power to ya. I'd love to be one of the lucky ones without glitches with waves central. smile

Bottom line, it's a good plugin but I wouldn't pay more than $29 for it.


I own Vocal Rider and Bass Rider as well as other waves plugins. You are correct with what all you said about their products. You can only have the plugin installed on one computer at a time and I transferred Vocal Rider for my PC to my Mac and had to pay an upgrade fee because it would only work on a older Mac OS.

I also own the Hornet AutoGain plugin which is like the Vocal Rider but it is on sale right now 70% off which is $3.60 in the Euro. You can't beat the price and works just fine and writes automation. As a bonus there is no copy protection and works with Mac and PC at no extra charge. Here is the Link.
