By "wireless card" are you referring to a 3G type modem (a la mobile/cell phone technology) or a Wi-Fi (802.11) type solution?
If the latter, I'd be surprised if there isn't relatively easy solution given that notebooks have shipped with Wi-Fi for years and Win7 notebooks would have this already - just find a wireless NIC with the same chipset...
For the former, anything that works with vista should work with Win7 - they're the same kernel.
It doesn't matter whether the CPU is an i7, i5, core 2, pentium or even an old '486 - it is the Win7 that is the issue. If he has 64 bit Win7 then the problem is greater as there are less drivers around.
