With the introduction of Utility Tracks, BIAB 2021 now effectively functions the same as a hardware 8 input, 24 track digital multi track recorder. It has audio editing features similar to the Tascam DP-24 but the BIAB Audio Editor is more robust.

In addition to the common audio editing features, BIAB's Audio Editor can also:

Convert channels from stereo to mono
Transpose an audio region or the whole track
Add audio harmonies to regions or the whole track
Transcribe Midi to the audio track
Fix 'Sour' notes (audio and midi)
Extract Stems (if third party software Spleeter is installed)
Generate RealTracks

Currently, generation of RealTracks onto a Utility Track does not include the capability to access and implement the Melody feature. The RealTrack Melody feature provides a 10 channel sub-mixer to each of the original Legacy channels. Thus, each Legacy channel contains 11 slots to place any RealTrack meaning a single render of a BIAB song could have 77 total instruments.

Although this feature isn't currently possible to do on Utility Tracks, Legacy Tracks that apply this feature can be moved to and reside on Utility Tracks as long as the Utility Track is subsequently not regenerated.

Another use for the Utility Tracks is to bounce tracks to a stereo or mono sub-mix and place those sub-mixes onto Utility Tracks. It's fast and easy to create layers and sub-mixes that can be rendered into a stereo master mix consisting of hundreds of instruments and hundreds of tracks...

Because everything occurring on a BIAB Mixer Legacy track is digital until audio is rendered. There's no quality loss in bouncing, merging or creating Medleys on these tracks.

Lastly, the Audio Channel can be used to apply the Audio Menu Plug ins - like compressor, gate, distortion, echo, de-essor and parametric EQ before moving the track to a Utility Track.
