Thank goodness things look like they are turning around and maybe I'll have some time to be musically productive again. I hope to start checking out a lot of material you all are posting soon! For this contribution I'm going back to a song I posted 3 or 4 years ago. I've polished it up a bit with a new mix and mastering. I've re-recorded some of the vocals. I hope somebody enjoys it! Good to hear from you, Torrey, although it's saddening to learn about that hard time you've had.
Like always a very 'complete' song - although I can't exactly describe why it has that British touch.
Your compositions are always 'radio-proof' and your mellow vocals are so wonderful. Your work on the guitars is beautiful - fits the song so well.
Can't compare it with the original mix, but this one sounds brilliant!

Ah, Torrey, you were definitely missed. Hope you're doing well. By the sounds of this song you are doing VERY well. Always such a good production, and your vocals are perfectly smooth and top-notch. When I saw you posted a song, I jumped for the play button. Yeah, so glad you're back. Really cool swaying feel in this one. Love the positive lyrics.

Hello, Torrey Bliss...
I recall a constant level of musical and technical excellence in the songs you've posted on this forum, and this one, 'Starting To Live', continues that tradition. Mellow singing and vocal harmonies, Real Track selections with rhythmic and melodic qualities that make music that rises to the heavens, and the final touch of your musicianship on multiple instruments makes everything whole.
However, I was surprised, and then impressed, by the way your lyrics seemed to transform themselves from what seemed to be a story about a romantic relationship into a praiseworthy, heartfelt testimonial to the power of faith. The transition from one idea to the other was as seamless and natural as a stream feeding into a river. This production could play simultaneously on radio stations devoted to pop as well as those dedicated to Christian music. Clearly, you were inspired when you put this song together, and that sense of inspiration radiates from it like a warm, personal sun held in the palm of your hand.

I am really glad you returned to the forum! It took you some time and I read it was a hard time too!
But it couldn't stop you from getting back into music and I am really glad about that!
Your song is composed and sung wonderful. The arrangement is so smooth. As some say here, it is 'radio ready' or words of the same kind.
I was amazed I haven't heard it back then. I listened to a lot of your songs, because I like your style.
The only explanation must be I was just entering this forum then.
I do hope the bad reasons are gone by now and you will make more of your (Soul like) songs again!

A beautiful sounding track. The quality of the mix hits you right off the bat. Love the guitar leads. Love the vocals - so smooth - and sitting perfectly in the mix - easy to hear every word (no lyric sheet required). Bass & drums sound great...well...everything does...

What a lovely smooth sound. Your mix reminds me of Gerry Rafferty's "Baker Street" sound. Excellent recording. Nice song. Great vocals. Again, so smooth. And the band...what else can I say about the band?

This may be the best contemporary Christian song I have ever heard!
Excellent write, super vocals, guitar chops, instrumentation, and mix.
This is definitely radio play ready for both Christian and commercial stations.
Excellent song.
