I agree but those are guitars and amps and not software and computer peripherals.

I hadn't realized that Sunn was a thing of the past.

My meaning here was more along these lines - Fender has basically left Gretsch alone and Gretsch gear is still great. Fender is building Jackson and Charvel guitars in the Fender factories and they are also still great. Fender bought Genz Benz and Sunn and killed them off.

So basically it could go one of three ways with Presonus - either Fender leaves them alone and they continue to be great, or they take over Presonus with proper care and attention and they continue to be great, or they toss Presonus into the trash. Hopefully one of the former instead of the latter.

Absolutely. There's plenty of evidence that huge companies can do things the right way - hopefully Fender will follow suit.

They try to upsell you on the hardware but by no means is it required. I just use the software. You are correct and it does have a steep learning curve. I worked on it hard for a couple of years and feel comfortable using it now.

Yep, Pro Tools hasn't required their own hardware since Pro Tools 9, which is around the time I got into it. It'll work with the built-in sound cards now.
