I can enable and open the Default Synth - VSTSynthFont64. Then I can assign any midi channel without any issues. Can you show me a picture or what goes wrong?

I'm opening from the preferences->MIDI devices dialog, not from plug-ins, which may make a difference. I'd previously used the mixer->plug-ins tab to do the libx64 trick to get VSTSynthFont64 recognised. I don't have that "[Bass][Slot 1]" in the lop-left of the main dialog, I have "[Default Synth][Slot 1]"

I first changed the sound-font on the top instrument to JJazzLab, and the file-opening dialog appeared behind the dialog. I figured that I should be able to set them all somewhere ... try [Options]. That also opened behind the main dialog and is then hidden. I can tell it's there because clicking the Apps section of the Windows screen for that main dialog shows the [Options] dialog for a moment.

I hope that helps, but if not, I'll try to get some images tomorrow. It's time for bed here :-)
