Hi Gordon,
If you want to transpose everything in the bass up 2 octaves, then the "Channel" settings that I mentioned previously will do that for you (unless I've misinterpreted what you've written). That does the transpose nicely. Thanks. What I've discovered since, that surprised me a bit, is that I can then Edit->Copy Special->copy/move tracks and what gets copied is the transposed version. That means that I can copy the generated bass to a Utility track and then work there on the articulations.
Jazz relative beginner, starting at a much older age than was helpful.
