Hi,

All good observations, though not really what I'd hoped.

Primarily what I'm trying to do is get a reasonable feel for when the PC is running low on resource. My desktop PC is coping fine at present, but I know my notepad PC gets overwhelmed very quickly (it's an old 2-core Celeron). Just putting Pianoteq on that can overwhelm it.

The work done by VSTs is part of the whole and hopefully will show up fairly consistently.

Most modern OSs should(!) be reasonably good at not going mad looking unneccessarily for work to do. Certainly Windows, Mac and Linux all have idle states whilst they're just waiting for something to do, though occasionally some application will behave badly and hog the machine.

I'm not too bothered about how long BiaB takes to generate, but I'd be concerned if I had click or worse if trying to mix, for example, though that probably better done in a DAW anyway. RB is considered to be a DAW, but the numbers I was seeing suggested it was close to being overwhelmed with little going on. I now doubt those numbers, and wanted to find a measure in which I had more confidence.

Maybe I'm worrying unneccessarily; Maybe I just keep going and do something if/when it actually breaks.
