I'm new to BIAB and before I get to far into it I need to make sense of where it has put all of its files. I could not find a comprehensive explanation of what all the directories/folders are for. I use D: for all volatile data files (it gets backed up daily). I use C: for more static config and executables. I use L: for large content libraries (sounds and instruments) The BIAB has installed things all over the place. This is a mess, HELP. Here is what I have:
C:\bb (this may be left over from install since there is a directory for Install Manager) C:\BBDownloads (this is empty) C:\REALBand C:\pdf995 C:\Program Files\ PG Music Inc C:\Program Files \Power Tracks DirectX Plugins C:\Program Files \Plogue C:\Program Files (x86)\Power TRracks DirectX Plugins C:\Program Files (x86)\VST Plugins D:\bb (has numerous directories underneath it) L:\bb\Drums L:\bb\RealTracks
It appears that you have installed BiaB in D:\bb\ which should be fine.
Some files such as VSTi's, plugins etc are normally stored in the system \Program Files\ folder so that appears to be normal also.
You have installed your Drums and RealTracks on your L: drive which is also fine.
All you need to do is to start BiaB, select Options > Preferences > RealDrums and set the location to your L:\bb\ drive and repeat for options > Preferences > RealTracks, as shown.
BIAB & RB2025 Win.(Audiophile), Sonar Platinum, Cakewalk by Bandlab, Izotope Prod.Bundle, Roland RD-1000, Synthogy Ivory, Kontakt, Focusrite 18i20, KetronSD2, NS40M Monitors, Pioneer Active Monitors, AKG K271 Studio H'phones
As you're using D:/bb/ for BiaB, you can delete the old C:/bb/ directory tree.
C:/BBDownloads is where the BiaB download manager puts the files it downloads. You can speciufy elsewhere if you wish, you can tell it to keep or delete the dowenloaded files when done, if you wish.
C:/RealBand is PGMusic's DAW.
C:pdf995 is a convertor to .pdf files. Recent Windows version have their own.
...Plogue is for szforzando ...VSTPlugins is one of several common-ish places for VSTs and the like.
Jazz relative beginner, starting at a much older age than was helpful. AVL:MXE Linux; Windows 11 BIAB2025 Audiophile, a bunch of other software. Kawai MP6, Ui24R, Focusrite Saffire Pro40 and Scarletts .
The previous posts pretty much covered it. I will add one more thing - You may want to consider just moving your entire bb folder to your L: drive. Band-in-a-Box is for the most part completely self-contained within it's bb folder. For example, the program preferences are stored in the Preferences subfolder of bb, and not in a User data folder somewhere else on your system. You can simply move the folder with Windows Explorer - you don't have to reinstall anything. Having your bb folder in a single location simplifies program settings and installations, in that you don't have to worry about specifying custom location for RealTracks folder.
Yes, AudioTrack raises a good point. You can either do this manually do this by right clicking on the icon on your desktop, going to properties and putting in the new target directory, or you can always delete the icon, and then from the bb folder, right click on the bbw64.exe or bbw.exe (whichever you prefer to use) and go to "Send to" and then "desktop (create shortcut)". This will create a brand new icon on the desktop for you. Either method will work. I personally prefer just deleting the icon and making a new one so I don't have to worry about exact paths for the target field in properties.
