Ah! Thanks pipeline.
I hadn't seen that at all and I see it's there for both legacy and utility tracks.
Initially I thought it didn't work, until I realised that one has to reapply these after each generation ... generation makes the track again, un-transposed.
I did also wonder if this was feasible with the Harmony option, but that's limited to only the Melody or Thru channels. Similarly if there's a means to define the note-range of an instrument, but so far without success.
A bit frustrating, but it's something.
I'm gradually coming around to doing a very rough-cut arrangement using other "sounds a bit like" instruments and then transferring everything into Reaper to change to my planned instruments' VSTs.
Jazz relative beginner, starting at a much older age than was helpful.
