A Patchbay will allow you to have front facing inputs with rear outputs fed from the rear and cabled to the other rack effects inputs one to one . That's the same as using your audio interface inputs and outputs. With a stand alone multitrack recorder, connect into the multitrack preamps and use the aux sends and returns to route a signal out of the multitrack to the effect and the output of the effect to return the signal back to the multitrack to either a return or one/two of the multitrack inputs.
