Yeah, try different a port or a different USB cable.
Focusrite is known for being fussy about the cable and support docs suggest they'll only support their own cable (which is only about 1.5 ft long so not acceptable in some applications, including mine). The supplied cable worked but was too short for my needs.
I tried a longer cable I had laying around and it failed.

I bought a nice new decent quality 15 ft cable that wasn't the cheapest but solved the issue ever since.

I got the gray one FWIW, but was only about a $15 fix ..

We got another of the same for the studio (same situation; too short of a supplied cable with 18i20) and the new cable has worked fine there too.

Just saying, the fact the cable works on another device doesn't mean it is fine for the Focusrite application.
Unless I missed something.
A cable that worked fine for a printer/scanner did not work on my Focusrite, but didn't mean the cable was fine for the Focusrite application. It was still indeed the problem. And jiggling it could be making the cable kind of work for the moment, but ultimately the problem could still be inside the cable itself.
At least that has been my experience.

*Edit:
Now that I think about it more, the USB cable that failed with my Focusrite is still in use on a Roland Synth for both MIDI and Audio .. so the cable working on a different device (synth) does not always mean it won't fail on the Focusrite device.

This caused me a bit of distress when I first got the Focusrites, but ended up an easy fix
