When Band-in-a-Box uses a 3/4 style there are three beats to the bar. (The program still displays space for four chords per bar but the fourth space is grayed out and not accessible.)

One way to create 6/8 time is to select a 3/4 style and double the song tempo. Then two bars gives you six chord spaces to work with. In other words two bars at 100 bpm sounds the same as one bar at 50 bpm.

There are some 6/8 time styles. MIDI entry works as I described above while some RealTracks were created with 6/8 time in mind.

You will also find some 3/4 waltz time RealTracks may work with your song by selecting double time in the RealTracks Picker.
