There is a button for Midi Monitor. To set my system up I used that, set it to show me what was on Ch 5 only, and troubleshot the thing from that perspective.

What it does is show you every midi command going out on Ch5.

If you set up the box to send on 5, you should see the chord going in terms of 3 notes if you selected that option, and some on off stuff is all. Once you are sure that is happening it's a cable and set box to receive issue.

Very simple in the end. Don't give up yet. \

In looking for the button it's on the bottom row I think, click the arrows and look for the Midi and some green marbles.

Then set the filter or there will be too much data.

That should take 30 seconds to confirm you are getting output. Actually it's good if you have a device to allow you to see visually that you cable is right, that way you get flashing or output at the other end. Many midi cables are confusing to say the least. If you get output on 5 but no chords, switch the cable around and try again.
