Seems that two popular items in BIAB community are Scaler and EZkeys. These plugins, along many others have MIDI out option and there are quite a few MIDI plugins that do not have sound source of their own and rely on secondary sound producing Synth / Instrument.
Benefits of routing MIDI is that you can use EZkeys to play completely different instruments. The ones that you can't buy from Tunetrack. For example strings or wind. And for the arpeggio or other phrase based instruments that don't have sound source have them play along side of your BIAB arrangement with Chord Track or by programming their internal sequencer.
My preferred way in working with BIAB is to try out different RTs with sounds, grooves etc from other 3rd party tools that I have, before committing exporting project to DAW, as I change things around quite a bit. So kindly don't suggest doing what I am requesting in DAW
So the request is: Possibility to route MIDI Out from one VST to second VSTi Midi In within BIAB.
+1 I just tried loading ReaStream VST after EZKeys as it will send midi or audio to another vst slot or another application but there just no midi coming out of it only audio. It should be a simple fix not a xmas special added feature. It just needs to connect midi out from one VSTi to midi in of the next VSTi, so allow the 2nd slot to also load a VSTi not just a VSTfx. It's the same deal with RapidComposer VSTi it has midi out to host. It's the same deal with RealGuitars. It's the same deal with others.
Look at Reajs VST it allows you to use all the Reaper audio midi Plugins in any other VST Host. It also has a scripting editing within it. It has a audio and midi In, audio and midi Out. It will only load in Biab as and audio FX so Biab won't give it midi In, and because it loads as an FX Biab won't send midi Out. https://www.reaper.fm/reaplugs/
I am in favor of simple in-house MIDI routing not to overcomplicate thigs with 3rd party solutions as shown ^. Hopefully it's not a difficult task and would be considered.
The whole idea of showing what is shown: 1. ReaStream is to show Biab is not connected to the midi Out of EZKey only audio Out. 2. RapidComposer is to show it has the option to send the track's midi out to the Host but Biab won't connect to that. 3. RealRick is to show it has a midi Out that Biab won't connect to.
The whole idea of all this is to show that Biab must be made to handle all these situations like other DAW's do. It's not trying to twist your arm to use "overcomplicate things with 3rd party solutions", heaven forbid if anyone ever has to do a fate worst than death, it's trying to get PG to see the light.
It should not be the norm to wait a year each time for fixes n features from father xmas because Win is being reprogrammed for Mac still. There are better ways to do things but it's just a matter of biting the bullet and doing it.
