You have Track Actions > Save track as WAV file
but you also need MID, as the other MID save options save all tracks to a midi file.
This will save direct to the chosen location rather than the Drag Drop folder and will give single midi/RC track render without the need to drag drop.

A BIG +1

Whenever I get something stuck in the back of my throat, I dislodge it by drinking a beer.
It's called the Heineken Maneuver.

musocity:

Are you saying that you want BIAB to take a .wav file, and interpret it as a MIDI file?
I didn't know that was even possible. Are there other programs that can do that?

Or perhaps you're saying you want to be able to take the existing MIDI file that is already associated with a Real Track,
and export that as a separate MIDI file.

Or perhaps I just don't understand what you're after! lol

Ya, this is doable - but not in BIAB. Melodyne is somewhat the gold standard for this.
here is a recent example I did for a project. It ain't perfect but I was impressed by how close I could get converting the original audio to midi and then rendering it with a Kontakt VSti.

Here is the original guitar intro wave file.

Here is the midi version created by Melodyne of the Guitar Intro and played by Kontakt Sessions Guitar

What do you think?

No, just want a menu item to save a track to a single midi track file as the only way you can do that now is by dragging.
If you want to convert audio to mid: Melodyne vs BasicPitch Free

Thats sounds odd? Why do you need a menu item when simply dragging and dropping is so intuitive and so simple? Just asking?

Wow, you can be a man of few words. I suspect I have to surmise what you have shown here.

First picture of the BB/Dragdrop folder confirmes to me that any midi (and wav) ever dragged out of BIAB is copied there. OK - I knew that. I clear this on occasion when doing housekeeping.
Second picture appears to be your suggested mock up of what an Export Midi window would contain. I think I get this and am a little surprized that nothing like this currently exists in BIAB? Which I assume is why you are asking for this.
The third picture .... is ... well me, so I guess you are providing this info to me?

Any reason you have to be so cryptic?

LOL while I was taking the screen shot you were looking right at it.
I can drag export midi track in Reaper but also save as a single track or multiple to any folder.
Drag and drop just fills the folder up where as a Save option in the track's menu will allow you to save where you like and overwrite without creating a new instance.
You are allowed to save as a wav from the track menu, goes to reason you should have mid also.

I think that is remarkable!
For a program to be able to interpret a .wav file that closely and convert it to MIDI is something I never imagined.
Thanks for sharing!

+1 in support of Musocity's suggestion to add a "Save track as MID file" option to the Track Actions menu.

Band-in-a-Box interprets monophonic audio to midi pretty good too. Select a track, select the "Audio Edit" button, select the "Edit" tab and "Transcribe" in the Edit menu.

Thanks for that, I didn't know you could do that here. So I move this midi to another track and apply a new midi instrument. Nice

The other path is Audio -> Transcribe (does the same)
