The backing track does what it needs to do: stays out of the way so you can sing and Dave can solo. IANAL, but you should be able to have a retrial, since your Dad should have recused himself because he's related to you.  Fun tune! Ah, David. I knew you'd get it ---althought you're not a lawyer. As the song developed and it came to the punch line, the same thing occurred to me. I have another song in the works where the premise just doesn't fit the conclusion. Stay tuned. I always appreciate your comments.
