For various reasons I won't go into here, I'm considering a switch-over from Windows to Ubuntu Linux.

For most applications (e.g. Microsoft Office), there are excellent public-domain alternatives to proprietary products, but I don't expect BIAB to provide a Linux version, and would have to run it in an emulator.

Obviously, I can set up my PC to boot up Windows or Linux, and will do so for a period of experiment in any case, but I'd be glad to hear from anyone who's got BIAB running on a Linux box.

My non-techy wife is very impressed by the speed of Ubuntu. She uses her PC almost exclusively for web access - research, news and shopping - and she was always moaning about the slow start-up and response of Windows. Reluctant at first, she became an instant convert to Ubuntu, and is now almost evangelical! I'm still dependent on a lot of Windows programs, and would have to make the transition gradually.
