A lot!

Thanks. I had a deeper look at Sols reverb and it's actually on the same vocal buss with the lead vocal. I've been working on several things that are very scarce instrumentally. It's challenging.

I just posted pretty much this same comment on another post: This is a really good song and production, but I so often find that SynthV vocals lack the soulful expressiveness of a real human. Just yesterday I uninstalled my SynthV.

I love the dobro and fiddle. Never did learn how to play them.

I'm always in favor of keeping it simple. And while that sounds like an easy thing, it's often a fairly difficult task to boil things down to their most basic form because we always want to embellish things. While I could have easily said, "yes, absolutely"... I had to embellish the reply. cool

Thanks for listening

Thanks for listening. Singing cleanly.... Check the vocal parameters and make adjustments for the quality of the vocal you want.

Hi, Herb.

Nice song and arrangement. smile

I agree that the lead vocal has a robotic sound. I suspect the reverb has a lot to do with it.

And for whatever reason, the female SynthV voices are better at projecting emotion. That can make the male voices a lot more difficult to work with.

Still, a pleasant song to listen too - nice work! smile

Vocal control, you say. Never heard of it. Is that some kind of ProTools thing?

Hello Herb,

Another piece of musical magic to my ears. I don't get the same sense of "robotic" on either of the voices as others have mentioned. Maybe a bit of the sibilance Ray mentioned, but not enough that I paid much attention to it. I think I listen to other folks' music a little differently than some of the other forum members. On the first listen, I simply listen as the typical, non-musical listener probably does. I don't evaluate the technicals and mechanics. What I want to determine after that first listen is: Is the song pleasant to my ears, and would I like to hear it again? Also, does it tell me a "story"? And then I listen again, at which time I consider those other things from a musician's/composer's POV.

I liked the song a lot and listened again. I enjoyed the nice but sparse arrangement. It was soft and gentle. The music fully supported the vocals without competing with them. Excellent choice of tracks. I particularly liked the nuanced phrasing of the vocals. Additionally, I enjoyed the slightly extra reverb on the voices. Everything about the song sat pleasantly in my ears.

Take care,

Alan

Lovely song, Herb, the stripped down band is perfect.

Vocals sound good, especially the harmonies.

Hi Herb.

What is this wizardry? Such clarity in the vocals. Very good harmonies. I really liked this acoustic arrangement. Great use of biab.

It's not often I find a song so enjoyable that I hit the play button three times in a row. "Goodbye" is a poignant, beautifully crafted song that shines on so many levels.
Looking the lyrics line by line -- There's nothing particularly spectacular about them. But, like individual threads on a loom, when they are combined, they convey the intended sentiments brilliantly.
To my ear, the music and vocals are masterful in their composition, arrangement a production. A great job all round.
Anyway, I'm going to stop typing now and I going to listen to it one more time (without any more distractions).

Thanks,

Brian

We are always down with an open airy mix full of subtle dynamics.
This is an excellent example.

The acoustic side of the BiaB Wrecking Crew sounds great.
The clarity and separation of the tracks is very strong.

Lotta effort, no doubt involved in the synth lead and harmony tracks.

We gonna hear any more Herb vocals? Without your vocals and what we perceive as changes in your lyric style we miss the ole school posts.
Not being dismissive at all as, yeah, time passes and things change. No doubt the new journey is fun and a breath of fresh air.

Thanks.... it's a learning curve with the guys. We'll see how it goes.... They don't have some of the behind the scenes editing capabilities that Sol has. And I think that makes a difference. I'd like to see them update all the vocals with the same engine.
