I'd created a short selection of music tracks for a publicity video, then left things for a couple of weeks whilst the people organising the video & voicovers did their part and decided which music seemed the most appropriate.
Yesterday I came back to the music ready to adjust duration, highlights and so on.
I started BiaB ... no sound. I tried all the various BiaB sound types (WAS, ASIO, MME), still no sound. I tried repowering the sound card, still no sound, I went through the types again, still no sound, I did an RTFS most and repeated, still no sound. I rebooted Windows, still no sound. Somewhere during this I started to get assorted pops, buzzes and crackles. on the sound module, but still no real sound. And then, shortly after yet another "play", the sound faded in and has been fine since. I've had this before and couldn't then work out why either.
Oddities continue, though ... one of my tracks (track 5) is playing, but says the RT is N/A. OK, let's do a rebuild, even though I think nothing has changed, and do Cancel after it. I do a slow rebuild as I have a number of Norton Music styles. My "N/A" guitar now is no longer N/A, but anotjher track that was an RT has now turned yellow. When I regenerate and play, the song sounds quite different. I then notice that the style has changed ... perhaps that's why that RT track changed to yellow.
This has more than slightly messed with the song, so I'm about to try to get an untouched copy and try again, but at present I'd distinctly confused by what's been going on here.

I have no way to explain the issues you have identified. In between times, did you boot another O/S?

On very rare occasions I have had similar problems. I determined it was a bad file. Fortunately I had a backup and it played fine. YMMV

I have no way to explain the issues you have identified. In between times, did you boot another O/S? I had (of course ... the other OS is my usual), though the sound module was playing other things OK. Having repowered the module Focusrite 2i2 v1), one would have expected any left-over OS-related stuff would be well gone. I do get a warning message: Windows Audio Session error: Input and output sample rates must match. Audio input (recording) will be disabled. The error number is -9997 [2024.1111.0, 22/08/2024 12:21:28] which might be relevant, though I think everything is 44.1k. I'm rendering to 48k as this is for video. On very rare occasions I have had similar problems. I determined it was a bad file. Fortunately I had a backup and it played fine. YMMV Hmm, I guess that could be. Maybe I should have just tried another file first. I binned the work in progress anyway as I'd lost the style and at least one RT. It was quicker to just start over than try to restore the broken bits. I noticed another oddity, too, whilst doing this. I think this is the first time I've tried to set the music duration to exactly match the video. I was using the time on BiaB's title bar, but thought to check the actual duration before I sent the file, only to discover that it was about 3s longer. I guess that BiaB does not count its self-generated ending in the time. Ho Hum, live and learn ... cut out some more bars and tweak the tempo again..... Edit: Oh crikey ... and another oddity: Alt-F5 rest all-excluding is not-resting the wrong guitar of the two. It sometimes feels like every time I touch BiaB I expose a bunch of weird issues. Sigh! Ah, OK, ... frozen tracks! PICNIC.

I am fairly sure that BIAB includes the count-in when calculating the song length. I think that it has been requested many time to change this but it has never happened.

I am fairly sure that BIAB includes the count-in when calculating the song length. I think that it has been requested many time to change this but it has never happened. I excluded the count-in from the render, though that doesn't mean it still didn't include it. When I first checked the time, VLC reported the file as a full 5 seconds longer than BiaB had reported on a 200bpm song. That sounds to me like probably both count-in and 4-bar ending. My final 54s version reports as 52s. Hmm ... looking at the Audi->Render dialog, I note: Delay at start (seconds) 0 and Delay at end (seconds) 2 OK, I need to check that ... maybe my 54s is including two seconds of silence and I may need to stretch it some more. Well there's an interesting gotcha.
