Man, what a great description.
It is much appreciated by J&B whom have read a lot of detective fiction from that era.
Love that sax! Getting a bit of a Lester Young vibe from it.

J&B Thanx so much Janice and Bud. I didn't read detective fiction but I did read and still do read a lot of SyFy and Fantasy! I could have said "just the facts mam" but Janice is to young to get it. Maybe Bud can explain where that came from  She just read this and immediately said Joe Friday, Dragnet. She’s 12 years younger but watched a lot of TV with her five siblings. They likely watched reruns of the original and the later version. And she has an heckuva memory. BTW we are also avid Sci-fi readers. Bud
