I've been planning to post something new, but I figured that the folks in SoCal could use a little sunshine, so I'm re-posting this from about 10 yrs ago. I've enhanced it over the years as well. This came out of a challenge during the February Album Writers Month (FAWM) program: write a "list" song. If you're in the LA area, maybe this will help take your mind off the fire and smoke. I don't have the BIAB source info anymore, but it used the style and RT's that are generally available.

Got to Love LA!

Keep a cozy condo close to Berlin
Like that London is a town I've lived in.
Kept a flat in Rome
Called Chicago home.

Too many times I took a Tokyo address.
That Frisco studio was a sign of success.
But you got to love LA
Love the livin' in LA.

There's too much traffic, it's got lots of smog.
Then there's the earthquake scare.
But something keeps pulling me back for all its problems
I feel at home when I'm there.

The year I hung in Honolulu was fun
Moved to Miami for the Florida sun
But you got to love LA
Love the livin' in LA.

I've managed mornings on the isle of Mann
Pull up in Paris every spring that I can
Beach house in Corfu
Nice and Rio, too.

Shack up in Shanghai for a season or two;
Hung out in Sydney til the winter was through.
But you got to love LA
Love the livin' in LA.

It's got the beaches, and Hollywoodtown.
Santa Monica pier.
Yes, something keeps pulling me back to all its beauty
I feel at home when I'm here.

I found Manhattan never had that pull
It's not too wonderful in Istanbul
But you got to love LA
Love the livin' in LA.
