Oh, that rabbit hole is really deep. Yeah I got sucked in again. AI vocals. My lyrics. I have to

admit the learning curve is pretty steep but I am learning a lot. I found some very useful tempo

tools in Logic Pro X. They have helped a lot. I have been having a time getting ACW to

cooperate. Luckily I have a built in chord charting tool in my head that still works pretty well.

Thanks in advance for listening.

Like It Used To Be

A long way from nowhere

But gettin nowhere fast

The middle of the country

And running out of gas

A long walk without you

Seems so incomplete

I wish the way it is now

was like it used to be

And I tried oh Lord I tried

To forget about that last goodbye

Me and you you and me

It’s easy to see

I wish the way it is now

Was like it used to be

Burger and a show on Friday

Saturday night Chinese

No need to go for more

we had everything we’d need

I miss the conversations

I miss the quiet times

But by far most of all

I miss you by my side

And I tried oh Lord I tried

To forget about that last goodbye

Me and you you and me

It’s easy to see

I wish the way it is now

Was like it used to be

These are completely AI vocals?
That's pretty good, I have to admit.
Good and energetic song, and a really good production.
Toe tapping goodness.
Enjoyed my listen

Excellent country rock song. I was surprised that the vocals were AI as they sound so good - authentic - when most I hear I feel don't do the job.

Bob nails it. You always have great lyrics, great production, excellent performance and this song no different. It's always a thrill to see your posts appear here on the forum.

I agree with all the comments about your AI vocalist. Very cool. He sounds quite good and authentic. As good as AI can currently do. No criticism of the construction, tweaking and you getting professional quality from your PC singer. But at this point in time, AI voices are still recognizable to me.

Not a problem at all because the vocalist you chose is spot on for the song but my thought is I'd think the same if you had hired someone off Fiverr, this is a perfect song for your vocals. But the song still makes my playlist and the A-list rotation. I enjoyed it a lot and will be back soon for another listen.

These are 100 percent AI vocals. They still have a way to go but no doubt they are getting better. Be warned it is still very challenging to get them to match up with real tracks. But I believe I’m making inroads. Thanks for your kind comments.

Oh, it's not just your "built in chord charting tool" that works so well, Tom. This song has all of the best ingredients for a great traveling song: great relatable lyrics, a melody that everyone thinks they can sing along with, and an excellent singer backed by a talented band. Then you grab us with the hook, and wrap into an enjoyable mix. It all works well, Tom.

Enjoy whatever happens!

Hey Tom,

Great song! The AI vocal is spot on. But i could hear you or George Strait sing this in spades.

Great work on the voices and the song itself.

Best to you. Good to hear you again!

Hi Tom.

What an outstanding listen.
You've really conquered those AI vocals.
I would never have known that this wasn't a real singer if you hadn't mentioned it.
It's a great write and first-class production.

P.S. I don't know if this will help with ACW or not, but I wrote a tutorial in 2024 on how I use ACW because many people were finding the post-2018 version a challenge to tame. The link below will take you to what I wrote.

Tom, an outstanding country rock.
Great chops man.
I was totally surprised that those vocal were synth vocals, they sounded so real that they should be a commercial for that company.
Loved it.

Thanks.
I realize a lot of people are against using AI. I was one of those. Now I feel it’s worth exploring. The whole point is what it’s always been. It’s about the song and supporting it the best way you can with the tools that you have. It certainly isn’t the easy way out . My experience is it takes a lot longer to do because of all the under the hood work. Hope you had a great day! March forth!

Hey Tom,

Good to see you back, it's been way too long!

Great track, good write, and totally pro mix. Nice hearing your tele in the mix too during the outro, you are such a tasteful player.

Vocal sounds awesome too, but to be honest, I would prefer to hear you. But I get where you are coming from.

Thank you Noel . I appreciate your kindness. The ACW continues to give me fits. Your tutorial was very informative and well written. One of several problems I am having is the chord chart that comes up is way off. I do much better starting at zero and putting it in by ear. I will continue to try and tame the beast but I will also look at other outside tools. Thanks again.

Sounded terrific! I didn't know Synth V had a country voice. Song and lyrics were great, too. I was going to try Synth V, but your notes on how hard it is to use might have scared me away. Is it harder to use than BIAB? That's about as techy as I'm getting at this late point in my life. Let me know.

The vocal was from Suno. The problems associated with all this is in cleaning up the artifacts from the AI. Also the most time consuming thing is lining up BIAB with the voice in the Daw. It does require a little bit of patience. I am enjoying my journey through the process and am quite surprised at number of comments from people who are not ready to embrace the new technology. I was the same way. I have become tired of fighting my aging voice and am deep into this experiment. Thanks for the nice comments.

As always your production is top of the bar and your tele solo is killer.
Great BiaB session guys you called in.

It seems like you’re making rapid progress with the learning curve for SUNO vocals and these guys sound like they’ve had plenty of hits.
Makes our heads spin to even think about that deep of a dive!
You mention the necessity of cleaning up all the vocal artifacts ... but we assume there is no way to strip the fx from it?
I recall reading a while back about a reverb stripper or something of that notion. smile

Great lyric and this immediately got our attention:
“I wish the way it is now
was like it used to be”

Enjoyed it!

PS You know that we are like the other old timers here who hope to hear your voice again too.

Hey thanks! I am doing everything on a laptop so I can take it on the road with me. The AI vocals may be better than howling at the moon in a campsite. Although I've done that before. I will be returning at some point to singing. ( I'm hearing it from the wife as well) Right now I'm dug in pretty deep on this and am getting better results every day. You're right about the reverb removal tools. I haven't found one to my liking yet but I will. It's all part of the process. Everyone who says using a machine to create music is a bad thing is dead wrong. Isn't it just like using Biab??? I'm still against using any AI generated lyrics. So I believe the creative process is still alive and well especially when adding live instruments. I'm reading the Buddy Emmons biography and got the steel in the woodshed. Stay tuned. Thanks again for all your support through the years. Stay well.

This is a really good rocking country song.

Everything is fit together nicely.

I was really hoping you'd come back into the chorus after that very well done solo to bring it all back home.

I admit that I am not used to this style of music but when you hear the whole thing: accompaniment, singing and guitar, I tell myself that it is professional work. Finally I will maybe start country rock but I will certainly not have your level.

Not my favourite music, but well sang and played and produced. This could have been a hit in the 1970-80s.
